The Start

Clash royale was released on January 4 2016 and globally released on March 4 2016. There were 7 arenas during its release. There were also 42 cards consisting of 14 commons, 14 rares, and 14 epic cards.

2017

In 2017 they added fourteen more cards such as Bandit, Heal, Night Witch, Bats, Mega Knight, Flying Machine, Skeleton Barrel, Hunter, Zappies, Royal Ghost, Barbarian Barrel, and Magic Archers. but Heal getting replaced by Heal Spirit in 2020. They also added many game modes like 3x Elixir, Sudden Death Challenge, Ramp Up Challenge. In late 2017 they added even more game modes, like Touchdown and Mirror Battles. They only added 2 arenas in 2017, but they added leagues which you can access at 4000 trophies. Witch the leagues being Challenger 1, 2, and 3, Master 1, 2, and 3, Champion, Grand Champion, and Ultimate Champion. With each league taking 300 trophies each to pass. Leagues was basically 9 new arenas with the last league being 6400 trophies. In 2017 the game had over 112 million players.

2018

In 2018 clash royale they came out with Seven new cards such as ram rider, electro dragon, goblin giant, giant snowball, royal recruits, royal hogs and rascals. and surprisingly didn't add any arenas. They also added clan wars. they didn't do much in 2018, instead they did many improvements and balance changes.

2019

In 2019 five new cards were added. They added one new arena, and also added the trophy gate, which makes you not able to go down arenas anymore. They also added tiebreaker at the end of the overtime which destroys the lowest health tower, Making draws super rare.

2016

At the end of 2016 there were 4 new arenas. and a new rarity called legendary. they added 24 new cards by the end of 2016 with 66 cards in total.

2020

In 2020 clash royal they added eight new cards such as Royal delivery, Battle healer, Skeleton Dragons, Firecracker, Heal Spirit, Mother Witch, Electro Giant and Electro Spirit. They added another clan wars arena in 2020 with no new arenas being added. The also added a 7x elixir game mode.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is a game where you place cards strategically on many tiles. There are many cards you can use, but can only hold 8 in your deck. Winning a game gives you ~30 trophies depending on the opponents trophies, while losing gives the same punishment. Getting in a new arena makes it so that you cant drop back down. You can also level up your cards currently up to level 15. There are many things you can do to gain more progression, like winning battles, playing events and tournaments, and in app purchases.

in 2021 they added five new cards Golden Knight, Skeleton King, Archer Queen, Mother Witch and, Goblin Drill. They also changed fire spirits to fire spirit, making fire spirits costing 1 elixir instead of 2 and only spawning 1 instead of 3. They added 2 new arenas and made leagues take more trophies to advance. The best thing they added was magic items adding many items to help progress upgrading your cards.

2022

in 2022 they added three new cards such as Mighty Miner, Monk, and Phoenix. They surprisingly added 5 new arenas. They removed leagues from trophy road and added it to the path of legends, in a new menu. They also added card mastery, which gives various rewards to help for progression. You can also show off your mastery of your card at the start of the game on your profile.

2023

in 2023 they added 1 new card which was the little prince. They added 2 massive things this update being evolutions, which are super hard to get, but are really good. They added 4 evolutions being barbarian, royale giant, skeletons, and firecracker. They also added tower troops, so you don't have to use princess tower every single game. They still added 3 arenas despite adding many things.

2024

In 2024 they added five new cards such as Void, Goblin Curse, Goblin Machine, Goblin Demolisher, Suspicious Bush, and Goblinstein. They added 3 tower troops, which are cannoneer, dagger duchess, and royale chef. In 2024 they didn't add any arenas.

2025/Present

In 2025 so far they added four new cards such as boss bandit, berserker, Rune giant, and sprit empress. They added one new arena and added seasonal arenas. Seasonal arenas are from 10000 to 15000 trophies, however you can go higher. In seasonal arenas you gain 150 trophies per win or lose 150.

Jynxzi Revives Clash Royale

Jynxzi is a popular streamer who plays many games, but in 2025 he returns back to clash royale after ten years and starts mainly playing clash royale. He does funny things, and insane voice lines for Goblin Machine, Bowler, Golden Knight, and Hog Rider. The amount of players increased massively, and people started taking clash royale competitively and trying to beat their friends in trophies.

Season Shop Removal

The season shop removal and Jynxzi reviving the game made their monthly revenue from $2 million to $50 million. The season shop was the best way to gain progression free to play, but since it got removed it is way harder to gain progression now.
