         <title>We create a safe environment in which students feel they can speak in English and Spanish freely and openly. We let them speak to each other a lot!!! We provide and celebrate texts written in Spanish and in English. We give them opportunities to do book reports on texts in Spanish and texts in English as well. We allow them ample time to read in class. To bring in the bicultural piece, we allow students to celebrate their own culture as well as learn about others cultures. This may look like a project celebrating culture or it may look like providing opportunities for students to meet people from different heritages via zoom or in person.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When we expose our students to language rich text, we help build their vocabulary in reading, writing and speaking.&nbsp; The activities that go along with the text need to be meaningful and able to to be applied to their own lives.&nbsp; Talk and pair share OFTEN!&nbsp;Use higher level vocabulary whenever possible!  If you use it, they will learn it and repeat it!   Allow opportunities for students to share and learn about their own culture as well as the culture of others around them.&nbsp; Students need to be conscious and knowledgeable of cultural similarities as well as differences.&nbsp; This allows them to feel comfortable and accepted in their environment.  </div>]]></description>
