My eclectic background brings my east-coast passion and my west-coast zest for life to the classroom. For the past 25 years, I’ve delivered a wide variety of programs, all of which emphasizing a student-centered approach, in various academic settings across the US and in Japan and Europe. I have taught language immersion to Japanese kindergarteners, visual arts to high-schoolers, adult basic literacy for immigrants and refugees, and intensive English / university preparation for international students. I am what my grandfather would have called a "boomer"--someone who has held a large number of jobs across a large span of years. My academic training is in writing. I hold degrees in print journalism and creative writing and have written a few books that found a couple of publishers. I have the spirit of a poet and a genuine wanderlust that I have not yet satisfied. I love the outdoors and hope to someday settle in another land, perhaps Costa Rica, maybe Ecuador, or possibly some place in Europe. I have taught persons of all ages and various backgrounds. I attended college at UC Santa Barbara and graduated in 2021 and majored in political science. I currently live and work in downtown Santa Barbara which can only be described as a smaller, more intimate beach town of LA. I have a love for reading and constantly expanding my vocabulary of the English language. In my spare time, I love running, mostly on the beach which allows me to clear my head and recharge for the day.  I have extended family who lives in Sacheon, Korea which is at the tip of the southern peninsula.
