Turkey is found in Southeastern Europe and Southwestern Asia. It is slightly bigger then the state of Texas. The climate for Turkey is temperate; meaning hot dry summers with mild, wet winter. It becomes harsher the more inland you go.

Turkey has narrow coastal plains and several mountain ranges. Lowest point for Turkey is the Mediterranean Sea at O meters. The highest point of Turkey is Mount. Ararat at 5,166 meters. -AB

Turkey has many natural resources. Some of the many ones are coal, copper, mercury, gold, limestone, marble, clay, hydropower. -AB

Turkey is facing alot of environmental issues. There's water pollution, due to the dumping of chemicals and detergents. Air pollution in urban areas. There's alot of deforestation as well as major concerns for oil spills from the increasing Bosporus ship traffic. -AB

During the early years of the republic, the government invested a large amount of resources into fine arts such as paintings, sculpture and architecture. This was a process of modernization and of creating a culture identity. With different historical factors defining the Turkish identity, the culture combines clear efforts of modern and western undertake in varying degrees since the 1700’s. They still have the desire to maintain traditional religious and historical values.Turkey may be the only country that contains every extreme of Eastern and Western culture. After WW1, the republic adapted a unitary approach, which forced all the different cultures within its borders to mix with each other. -AB

In the year 2000, about 9,300 species of vascular plants were known.The most important reasons for Turkey’s high plant biodiversity are supposed to be the relatively high proportion of endemics in combination with a high degree of climatic and edaphic variety. -AB

Turkey’s has more diversity of animal life then it does plant life. There is over 80,000 species of animals with in turkey. If you also include subspecies, the number raises well over 100,000. -AB

1/30/15- DHKP/C member fired a machine gun at police in Taksim Square in Istanbul, no on was injured

3/31/15- two DHKP/C members held hostage a prosecutor in a courthouse in Istanbul. The gunmen and hostage were killed.

4/1/15-  two armed individuals attacked a police station in Fatih district, Istanbul. One attacker was killed, and the other detained.
