The reading of Dracula's book it is over.The part that impacted me has been when Jonathan was shaving and suddently a hand touched his. A voice said "good morning" he could not see anybody in the mirror, but the count was standing next to him. Jonathan cut his face, the count Dracula was watching his blood hungrily. Jonathan was afraid, but the count's hand touched the gold cross at Jonathan's neck, his face changed. He took the mirror and he broke it in a thousand pieces. For me it is the best part of the six chapters.

My favourite part is…When Van Helsing came back up to me at six o’clock Arthur was still asleep downstairs. Van Helsing went over to Lucy and looked at her. ‘The wounds on her neck have gone,’ he said. ‘She will son be dead. Bring Arthur.’ When Arthur and I came back, Lucy opened her lovely eyes. ‘ Oh, Arthur,’ she said sofly. ‘Kiss me, my love.’ He moved his head neared to her, but Van Helsing pulled him back. ‘No!’ he cried. For a minute, Lucy’s face was hard and angry. She opened her mouth, and her teeth looked very long and Sharp. Then he reyes closed and she slept. There are two moments on the Dracula’s book that impact on me. One was when Jonathan Harker’s realized that he was a prisoner inside the Count’s Castle and when he was aware that the Count want to kill him after the Count ask him to write some special letters to Mina as it’s described in the following paragraphs:“Two nights later, the Count came to me. ‘Write to Mina’, he said. ‘Tell her that your work in Transylvania is finished and that you are coming home.’How pleased I was when I heard this! But then the Count said, ‘Say that you are at Bistritz, and put June 29th on the letter.’I shivered when he said this. I knew then that the count planned to kill me on that day. What could I do? There was nothing. I could only wait and try to escape.

I chose this part because from here, Van Helsing will show Arthur the sad reality, that his great love has become a terrible vampire and this will make Arthur have to make the most difficult decision of his life: kill his beloved Lucy to protect people from the danger of being attacked by her.
So the fragment of the book that I have chosen is the following:
"Next Day, Van Helsing and me went back into the tomb again and openened the lid of the coffin. This time Lucy's body lay there. Her mouth was red and her face was more beautiful than ever. Then Van Helsing pulled back her mouth and showed me her long, sharp teeth.

He is a great doctor and researcher, he is called by a student of his, Jack Seward, to see what is happening to Lucy and discovers that she has been killed by a vampire, tries to save her, but dies and return as a vampire woman in search of children.
The only way for her to rest in place is for her fiancé to drive a piece of wood through her heart, which he does.
Van Helsing through Lucy's friend Mina discovers that her husband Jonathan has been with a vampire, Count Dracula, and lets her read his diary.
Van Helsing through the diary and reading many old books now understands many things.
Mina is attacked in this same way as Lucy, Van Helsing in order to save her, gathers them all together and they make a plan, they have to find Dracula and kill him.
He will go with Mina to Dracula's Castle, the others will go in search of Dracula who is going to England in a coffin on a ship.
When they reach the ship the coffin is gone, they know from the people that it is in a carriage, they manage to reach it and Jonathan throws the coffin to the ground, open it and inside is Dracula who at that moment open his eyes and screams, Jonathan pulls out a knife and plunges it into his heart, Dracula dies and turns into dust.
It's all over, they return to Dracula's Castle to join Van Helsing and Mina is now cured.

I've enjoyed the reading of Dracula a lot. If I had to choose one of the scenes it would be when Jonathan sees the three beautiful women into his room saying "He is young and strong, there are kisses for all of us....I was excited an afraid. I knew that I wanted those soft red mouths to touch me. One of the women came nearer. Her strong white teeth touched my neck. I closed my eyes and waited. Kiss me! Kiss me! I thought". I think it's the most sensual scene of the book.

When Jonathan Harkers went to Whitby. Mina went to stay at Jack Seward's house.
"So that night Van Helsing, Jack, Arthur, and I went out together to the Count's house. Mina of course, did not come with us. I was afraid to leave he alone, but she said that there was more danger for us than for her.
Jack had some old keys with him, and with one of these we got into the house. It was old and dirty, and the smell of blood was everywhere. We walked through the cold, empty rooms and at last we found the coffins. From his bag Van Helsing took some holy bread. ' We must put a piece of this in each coffin,' he said. We worked hard. It took a long time to break open each coffin and put holy bread inside. We were just opening the last coffin when Van Helsing gave a cry. ' We are too late! The Count is comming!' We looked up from our work and saw Count Dracula. He came through the dark room like a black cloud. His angry face was white and his eyes burned like red fires. Van Henlsing held out his gold cross, and the Count stopped. Afraid for our lives, we ran from the house. 'Quick!' cried Van Helsing. 'We must get back! Now he has seen us, Mina may be in danger!' My heart nearly stopped when I heard this. ' Oh, Mina' I cried silently. 'I cannot lose Mina!'."

The usual way would be with a wooden stake through the heart, but in the book they use a golden knife.
In my opinion I think the author incorporates an esoteric vision of "Gold", according to this vision, gold is a precious metal that takes its energy fron the Sun, its power in the knife to end Count Dracula's life.
I believe that the metaphor of: Gold -sunlight used as weapon is an original method of killing vampires and in this case Count Dracula.

From the moment that old Professor Van Helsing appears, he becomes the true center of all decisions.
He learnt a lot about vampires from old books and knows the symbology of the elements against vampires: garlic flowers, holy bread, etc…
They all follow his guidelines. He is the first to discover that when Lucy got sick she was already a vampire and once she was dead she also acted like one.
Mina is vampirized in London. VH discovers that Dracula has disappeared and is coming back to Transylvania, so they decide to chase him there to kill him by sticking a knife in his heart.

After reading the Bram Stoker's book, I can't forget but think of Werner Herzog's film: Nosferatu the Vampire with Klaus Kinski and Isabelle Adjani.
In 1979, I was 16 years old and this film impressed me a lot.
I don't remember if this movie was an exact replica of the book but it made me feel uncomfortable from the beginning to the end...Very very dark. The only thought I had was that the film stopped: I was 16 years old.
No comparisons with Twilight series, I watched with my daughter. Too romantic for a horror film. But it was her who was scared.

Everybody knows the king of the vampires, Dracula, but none knows the name of any female vampire, well, that is not true, as I am a comic's freak, I know the name of the most known female vampire, her name is Vampirella. She appears in comics from the 70´s and her better drawer was Pepe Gonzalez, a Spanish drawer , She was an alien and in her planet the rivers were made of blood. Well, about the question what chapter I liked most, I think that it is the first, because they talk about Transilvania, a small part of Europe that I don´t know yet, the woods , the castle , it invites you to know the ancient country of the Prince Vlad, the Impaler.

My favourite chapter is chapter one where Jonathan Harker tell us about the general aspects of the story.
I'm love how the writer uses the daily style as a way to give more impression to the plot.
And I love specially the moment in which Jonathan arrives at the little hotel that was warm and crowded.
It came to me the image of the film Nosferatu where the great film director, F. Murnau, one of the principal directors of silent movies shows us masterfully the terror of the story in the faces of people in the hotel. It's brilliant!

Full moon, garlic, bats... If these words do not leave you indifferent, then I highly recommend reading this book. Bram Stoker was the impetus that turned Dracula from a folklore character into a hero of world literature and cinema. The book is very interesting. There is also a thriller and a melodrama, in general, very entertaining to read.

Dracula is an intense novel that tells a story of love and feelings. The characters are very well narrated and relatable. The firsts few pages convey the anguish, fear and torment of Jonathan and his relationship with the Count. It does it with pasión and a lot of rhythm. This first part is brilliant, the middle part is a bit long and the end is rushed and unsurprising, but without detracting from its quality.

Dracula is a great Bram Stoker’s novel.

Count Dracula is a vampire, he’s a undead, very old, enigmatic, very dangerous. He’s a victim of his past live with a tragic love story that goes beyond space and time.

Van Helsing is a professor who knows everything one needs to know about vampires. He discovered at the first moment Lucy’s illness and decided to definitively kill Dracula. The rest of characters obey his orders.

But… Van Helsing has a problem for me… he loves garlic, he likes garlic necklaces, garlic bracelets, garlic bouquets and I HATE GARLIC!

Chapter 2 is my favorite. I think it's the core of the story of the fictional novel called Dracula.

In this chapter, Jonathan discovers who de Count really is and also the existence of the three beautiful vampire women.

Astonished he sees some coffins where Count Dracula and the vampire women rest during the day.

Those days, Jonathan lives in fear, he knows he's in danger and tries to escape without success.

Jonathan writes a farewell to his girlfriend Mina in his diary.

Chapter five is the one I liked the most Mina's friend Lucy has died from as a result of a bite from Count Dracula.

Mina receives a letter from Professor Van Helsing asking for help in finding Count Dracula.

Mina, Jonathan, Professor Van Helsing, Jack Seward and Arthur decide to search for him.

In this chapter we can see the typical phrase that says that there is strength in numbers, everyone contributes what they know and so they discover where the coffins are and in which of them is Count Dracula.

They find him but do not imagine that the can escape from them.

Dracula manages to attack Mina when she is alone but her husband Jonathan and his friends arrive in time to save her.

This tells us that you have to be brave and persevering to face evil and together you can do it.

In the chapter 1 there are two favourites moments for me.

When Jonathan is shaving in front of the mirror and Dracula puts his cold hand on his shoulder,but Dracula's face is not reflected. The other moment is the carriage ride through those dark and cold mountains,full of stones and with horrible sounds of creatures. In the chapter 5 there are two favourites moments for me, I liked when Van Helsing, Jack, Arthur and Jonathan decide to go hunting for Dracula.

I was very impressed by the moment when Dracula, after biting Mina,carries her in his arms while she drank his blood and how it stained Mina's nightgown.

The book is so good that its descriptions transport you to the moment of the action, imagining them.

We can see Jonathan Harker who believes he is just going to make a simple business with Count Dracula.

How the characters of small inn were horrified to know that Jonathan was going to Dracula's Castle to meet him.

The strange trip in a strange carriage to get until there.

All the misterious atmosphere created around it that continues when Jonathan Harker arrives at the castle door and is received by Count Dracula inviting him to enter freely.

Count Dracula says: " Come in Mr Harker" and he enters and then, the horror begins.

This story has been interesting, I liked the description of the landscapes, the castle and the characters and at some moments, when I was reading the book I was afraid.

In the first chapter, where Jonathan cuts himself and Count Dracula sees the blood and his face changes, this scene is amazing for me.

This type of reading is not my favorite, but I have to admite that the autor has managed to keep me trapped in all the chapters untill the last. Since I have to choose one, as my favourite, I have chosen chapter six the last, because the characters manage to kill Count Dracula and save Mina from beconing a vampire.

Chapter two is my favorite, because it describes Jonathan's fear and stillness.

It's the moment when he discovers who Count Dracula really is, he's a vampire.

Jonathan feels that he is a prisoner and is in danger in the castle. But it's also the time to escape.

It's a terrible scenario.

I like the whole book. I had seen old film of Dracula with Bela Lugosi as main character a long time ago, I was still a teenager at that time and that impressed me.

In the same way, the book has reminded me again of the scenes.

I have decided to choose Chapter One.

The way Jonathan Harker describes the events shows how the suspense of the plot rises.

A simple job turns into a horror drama.

It may be that Mina's ambition will turn into a dead end. I like the scene of the inn when the laughter turns to dramatic silence that foreshadows something uncertain and undesirable when the innkeeper hands the gold cross and a premonition "Perhaps this will help you".

Little by little the story gains in intensity, ending with the arrival at the castle and meeting the Count. The escene of the blood and the scene of the mirror culminate the character's anguish.

I like this chapter because he thinks that this job will bring him economic benefits in the short term and perhaps also with subsequent jobs. But that doesn't always happen and sometimes you have to admit you were wrong about it.

Drácula is a good book for me.

It had a action, intrigue, adventure, love, thriller an death.

The story is followed from the point of view of several characters and that makes it more complete.

The fiction created by Bram Stoker makes you think that it is real and that Count Dracula could exist.

For me the chapter I found most disturbios is the fourth. IT'S THE DEATH OF LUCY.

I have experiencia the feeling of the poor Arthur, and heard the cry of the Lucy.

When Arthur hit in her Heart with the pieece of wood .

In general , I find all the Chapters are interesting

Bram Stoker was born in Ireland on 8th November 1847.

His first seven years were spent in bed with several illnesses ,his mother used to tell him stories about ghosts and mysteries .

He was a great student at the Trinity College .

Stoker was a writer with a famous novel ,he was the author of Drácula ,1897 .

The story of "Camilla"about a vampire by Sheridan Le Fanu, influenced Stoker when writing Dracula.

It is a fictional story based on the character Valaquia Vlad III from Rumanía,called Vlad the Impaler.

In chapter two ,Jonathan realizes that he is in danger ,he is a prisoner in the Dracula's Castle.

One night ,Jonathan saw three beautiful young women near the window,they wanted to bite his neck ,the Count prevents It .

Jonathan knows that there wasn't danger during the day.

One day in a castle room Jonathan looked fifty coffins,in one of them lay the Count ,he tried to kill him but he couldn't.

He must escape ,but he doesn't know how.

Jonathan says ...Goodbye Mina !

Will I ever see you again ?

I'm Zulay and I must confess that I don't like the vampire stories, however even if it seems contradictory, I really enjoyed the reading of the Dracula novel, for two reasons: 1) It is the first book summary that I have read in English. At first I thought that It would be dififficult, but at the end, it was a good selection for our English level. I understood the whole story. 2) The conversation about the book in class was a didactic and dinamic way to learn and this allowed me to understand the book chapter by chapter. I really appreciate the experience and how Elena our English teacher, fatilitate my learning so easily.

In this chapter 2 , Jonathan discovers that he is not safe and feels like a prisoner. There are two parts that I liked.

When Jonathan wakes up and goes to the library and at night he argues with the count about the property that he acquired in England.

The second part, Jonathan starts to shave and accidentally cuts himself and bleeds that is where the count looks at him with demonic eyes but he turns away when he sees the crucifix that the lady of the inn gave him.

Drácula is a mythical novel of Bram Stoker.

It is an interesting novel and easy to read.

All chapters have lots of suspense, love and intrigue.

At first, Jonathan Harker goes to the Castle of Count Dracula. He is going to do a real estate deal and ends up locked in the Castle. His life is in danger.

In the end all the men go to find Count Dracula to kill him.

It is the only way to save Mina.

They find him and kill him.

Then Mina begins to get better.

And finally there's a Happy ending.
