South Africa lies in the Southern tip of Africa and it has 2,798 kilometres of coastline. The country lies by the South Atlantic and Indian oceans. In all the country has 11 offical languages, which is the highest amount of languages in the world.

The largest city in South Africa is Johannesburg, but Cape Town is the capital.

In May 31 1910 they got free from the United Kingdom, and South Africa's national days is May 31 and April 27.

It´s semi-dry in most of the country and 80% of the population are black African ancestry. About a quarter of people in South Africa use less than $1,25 per day.

Cape Town is the capital of South Africa and lies in the Western Cape. It´s about 3mill people living there. The city is also the place most tourist come to when they visit South Africa. Cape Town is also known as the worlds finest places because of the cities geography.

South Africas National anthem, the song is called "God bless Africa" in english. In african it`s called "Nkosi Sikelel` iAfrika".

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela have been the worlds most prominent symbol on peace after he got out of prison. Mandela was in prison for over 27 years because of his resistance to apartheid regime.

Hewas South Africas first black president. And also the first that all the people in South Africa had voted to be their president.

He and Frederik Willem de Klerk won Nobel peace prize in 1993, on nobel peace prizes web site it says "for their work for the peaceful termination of
the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South
Africa"
