For both my first and second placement I am in a second grade classroom with 25 students. While in college, I learned about the systematic barriers in place that deny marginalized student groups an equitable education and opportunity to succeed. I joined Teach for America in 2016, teaching preschool at Foothill Oak Elementary School in Vista to students from low-income, English Language Learning households.
