He wonderfully stokes, through repetition and vivid imagery, the audience's desire to live in the world of MLK's dream.

The speech of MLK is very inspirational in the fact that when he talks, he includes everybody in his words/speeches. The aim of his speech is clearly understood by all and he is very positive by saying "we will" and "we can". The use of words like dream, brotherhood, together is also very significant. He wants to transmit his long term and respectful dream by linking American values to it. It's such a great example to follow. He stood up and talked for generations and generations to follow and see where we are now, we have achieved it.

Martin Luther King was such a powerful public speaker. In the context of this course module, the 4 Provinces of Influence are highlighted: 1.The message: The content of the message has a clear vision of what the future could bring if people from all over the country could understand that “All humans are created equal.” 2.The Source: Martin Luther King, besides the fact of being a black man, is best known for advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience. He is a reliable source. 3. The Audience: Millions of people from not only the US, but the entire world were able to listen to the speech and create awareness of such important manner. 4.The Timing: The speech was given on August 28, 1963. During this decade there were many protests of the civil rights movement that would end in a wave of activism by students, marginalized communities, and women, so it the speech was given at the right moment.

The words he kept repeating, which just so happens to be the title of the speech today, stay with the listener. It speaks to Americans who at the time had this "Dream", albeit "American Dream". He was able to meld the two together and make all races try to think as one people. His choice of words in describing the racist governor in the south at the time, who probably claimed the African Americans were ignorant and the the reason for enslaving and segregating them, were words of an educated person. He saw his audience as all Americans, and used inclusion to unite everyone against the evils of racism.

Martin Luther King was able to, in his speech, give a vivid approach to the problem at hand - segregation. His description of the reality at the moment, with discrimination and antagonism originating from white people, was juxtaposed to the description of his dream in detail, where he saw a day this segregation not only would not exist, but also where it would not even be thought of. This vividness he used was inspirational because he led the imagination of all people to see what he was seeing. Through this vividness he was able to touch not only peoples' minds, but also their heart. This adds to the strenght of his message and wins people over to his beliefs, not only understanding them, but deeply caring for their success.

There are a couple of factors that made Martin Luther King’s speech so powerful and influential. First of all, the ultimate faith in what he believed and what he proclaimed. You can’t influence people if you are not 100 per cent sure you are right. Not even a single doubt is allowed. Martin Luther King was a really progressive person for his time and believed in racial equality and human rights. His message was clear, simple and consistent: you can’t judge people by the color of their skin; all humans are created equal and have the same rights. Second of all, even though MLK’s speech was ahead of his time, the society was ready for a big change. It needed a push like this to hear, understand and accept the message of truth and common sense. There was a growing part of progressive people in the society, ready to make the right change. MLK led those people, inspired them and made them see the better future in the world with no segregation and discrimination. It made it possible to start a movement that could not be stopped any more – the movement towards freedom and hope.MLK is a great example of a leader who was not afraid to speak up and stand up for the values he believed in and the world he wanted his children to live in. He made it possible for everyone to believe in his dream and open up their minds hearts towards a future with no segregation or discrimination.
