Costa Rica was founded on September 15, 1821. It is a beautiful country with its borders off the Caribbean coast. Its population is just over 5 million. The beautiful country is known for its incredible beaches, volcanos, incredible national parks, and coffee. Costa Rica's government is a strong democracy with honest elections and freedom of speech and opinions. Costa Rica is actually one of the few countries that doesn't have a military but yet still stays strong. The country is an upper middle class economy with most of its money coming from agriculture such as its exports of bananas, coffee, and sugar.

Costa Rica's origin includes its beginning starting with indigenous tribes and Spanish explorers in the early 16th century. It became part of the independent Mexican empire in the 1800s. It was inhabited by its indigenous people until being overtaken by the Spanish. The country still goes back to its indigenous roots and origins in things such as food or holidays. One indigenous holiday still celebrated is Juego de los diablos which means game of the little devils where the people dress in masks and do things like symbolic battles. Another holiday celebrated is its indepence day September 15 with beautiful vibrant lights, fireworks, parades and music. One of the most widely celebrated holidays is Festival de la Luz celebrated in December in the beautiful capital city of San Jose, people go to see the beautiful floats and fire works with thousands of glimmering lights.

Food is a very big part of the country's traditions and culture. Costa Rica has many delicious flavorful dishes just waiting to be tried. The most popular dish is Gallo Pinto which is a mixture of rice and beans flavored to you liking often served alongside meat or even breakfast foods like eggs, it is commonly eaten all around the country and is defiantly a favorite. Some other common dishes are olla de carne a vegetable beef stew and chifrijo a delicious snack of rice, beans, pork, and avocado. A well known desert from all over the world but specific to Costa Rica is tres leches a wonderful, sweet, milky cake. The country not only has delicious meals to offer but also delightful drinks specific to the country. One unique one is Agua de Sapo which is a ginger and brown sugar beverage, you can also try frescos of all fruitily flavors, and of course don't forget about what the country is know for its its rich coffee.

In conclusion Costa Rica is a country worth visiting, from is beautiful landscape to its diverse plates. Costa Rica is a country of love, passion, culture, pride, and freedom. This gorgeous country differs from others by being commonly know as the "pura vida" lifestyle a place of peace relaxation and leisure. The country has not been in war or violent conflicts since 1948 and that even with its unique system of having no military unlike other countries. Costa Rica is a place that treasures nature, peace, and beauty Costa Rica is by far the gem of the region. It feels like paradise on earth a place, country, home like no other.
