My mother language is Dutch (not to be confused with Deutsch, which is German). In the province of Friesland they speak Frisian, an official language. Dutch is also spoken in the Dutch Caribbean and Suriname and the northern part of Belgium (Flanders). My language sounds harsh because of the guttural G, but once you get used to that, it's actually a nice language. We use diminutives often and have a great sense of humor. There are many dialects and accents in Dutch, like the soft G in the south and the flat vowels in Amsterdam. There are also many local and regional expressions. The local Amsterdam dialect/accent is influenced by Yiddish, which shows up in words like "porum"(face), Mokum (city), mazzel (luck), gabber (friend), and geinig (funny), which originated from Hebrew/Yiddish, embedding Jewish culture into local slang.

“Minsan ang Minahal ay Ako” (which translates to “There Was a Time I Was the One Loved”) is a poignant Filipino song from a stage play that reflects on love, memory, and the fleeting nature of being in the spotlight. The song speaks for performers, celebrities, or anyone admired from afar who quietly longs for genuine love beyond applause. Using the metaphor of stars that shine brightly yet exist in vast darkness, it reveals how those in the limelight may be celebrated by many but truly known by few.
