Owens was known for being a courageous athlete. He was hurt before his Big Championship Meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan. But he was willing to still run his race which was the 100 meter. His coaches name was Larry Snyder and they had a close relationship. It was similar to a older brother and younger brother bond. At this time he was known as one of the greatest athletes while there were 5,000 athletes there to watch him. 5 days before he fell off a stairway while horse playing with friends. He accomplished a time of 9.4 which tied a world record.

Born in Oakville, Alabama, on September 12, 1913, and passing away in Tucson, Arizona, on March 31, 1980, Jesse Owens was an American track and field athlete who won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. His natural athletic ability and perseverance through a corrupt system that suppressed men and women of his color is what continues to inspire young colored athletes today. Adolf Hitler's plan to use the Games to prove Aryan supremacy was thwarted by his successes.

During this time, racism towards other races was high. It was between Germany and the Jews. They thought if the Olympics could be held in Germany than discrimination amongst Jews would end and maybe Jews would be able to participate in the races, but this was the opposite. Because of all the that Jews decided to decline their offer. On the other hand in the US negros were the ones getting discriminated. Because of the discrimination in Germany there was an attempt to move it but it had failed. Hitler pride in wanting to prove that their country was the richest and that the Ayran race was superior than others. Jesse Owens success in the Olympics proved both the United States wrong and The Germans and shows many inspiration to blacks or Jews that anything is possible.
