Theme exploration

The best theme that represents the stories is friendship. Some examples are in the "The Low Cuts Strike Again" Bit and his friends helped Bit collect change/ coins for his mom with cancer. I this shows friendship because they are willing to steal for Bit. They are not just collect money for them selfs too they are doing it for his mom. Jason Reynolds writes, "Only take loose change" (22) when going over the rules for stealing. Another thing in the book "Five Things Easier To Do Then Simeon and Kenzi's Secret Handshake", When Kenzi and Simeon were running around having fun on there street. That shows friendship because they are hanging out together and having a good time with nothing but them selfs. Jason Reynolds writes "The way Kenzi and Simeon thought about it Chestnut street is a paradise". (106)

Charactcer Analysis

A Character that showed friendship was A Simeon. Simeon showed friendship when he stands up for Kenzi in the halls. Kenzi tends to get pushed around because he is smaller than most of the kids and Simeon is bigger than most of the kids so Simeon would help him with that. Jason Reynolds writes "Simeon, bigger than the rest, was untouchable. He couldn't be knocked down of pushed out of the way" (100) so Kenzi would ride on his back in the halls so prevent him from getting pushed.

Literary Devices & Stuctures

An example of friendship in literary devices is when Bit and all his friends shaved there head for Bits mom with cancer. They would not shave there heads if they were not good, close, friends. Jason Reynolds writes "They all cut their hair down to almost bald-a sign of solidarity" (22). That shows a lot of support to Bit's mother and to Bit and i bet it means a lot to them.

This book relates to the world today because friend groups and friendships and how people sometimes do not understand the friendships and how everyone thinks about everyone differently. For example if me and my friend are laughing at something that we think is very funny and someone else does not think it is funny. Most of the time they probably are thinking, How do they think that it is funny? Bit and his friends do a lot of stuff together and me and my friends do a lot of stuff together.
