With the increase of telemedicine and lack of face to face appointments in primary care services, the ambulance has seen and increase in demand.

Trying to formulate my question, I have some obscure drafts below, feel free to add comments/feedback.

1. Paramedic prescribers; a developing role following the impact of covid-19 on primary care services.

2. Is there a need for more paramedic prescribers following the impact of covid-19 on primary care services.

3. Primary care telemedicine, does this make room for paramedic prescribers?

Outcomes/ aims (possible):

  • Provide effective pain relief 
Monitor response via pain score

  • Reduce opiate use 
-Elderly patients with co-morbidities are more at risk of side effects from morphine (renal failure, constipation, delirium) 

-When combined with nerve blockade does this allow for lower dose of morphine be administered?

  • Reduce morbidity 
Can this reduce hospital-admission time/ improve patient overall outcomes?

  • Provide a step-wise approach for paramedics to follow when managing and administering analgesia for NOFS that reduces opiate administration.

These are all just ideas - I have the topic and need to read a bit more around the subject. I also need to focus on what I am trying to prove.

Are there already alternatives? If so why don’t we use them.
