Throughout these four years in high school, I’ve made a lot of stupid mistakes and dumb decisions, just like everyone else has. However, a lot of my mistakes were generally known by everyone, leading to a couple dips in my reputation. Back in freshmen and sophomore year, I often heard about a certain someone hating me or talking behind my back. Usually, it involved someone that I had no idea existed before that day. At first it really bothered me, and I didn’t like that people thought I was an “Asshole.” But I was surrounded by people who were friends with me regardless of my reputation and liked me for who I am. Gradually, I started caring less and less about what rumors or stories were being told about me and I realized that only the opinions of those close to me should affect me. Make the most out of your 4 years here, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes and fail. Don’t regret anything because you never know if one bad thing can lead to a good thing or vice versa. You’ll make many friends throughout your four years; some will drift apart from you and some will stay with you until the end. Don’t be discouraged with how others view you, especially if you don’t even know them. The opinions of those close to you matter the most. Work hard so you won’t feel bad about it in the future, but don’t forget to have fun and break the rules once in a while. Academics aren’t everything, but be sure not to neglect them. I’ll be living in dorms for the first year and have not decided on the years afterwards. I plan on rushing and joining a social fraternity. I hope to be able to study abroad for a semester in East Asia, preferably Japan. To do that, I plan on taking an introductory Japanese class to meet the requirements of living in Japan. When I graduate college, I plan to go to apply for medical school and spend another 4 years in school. I do not have a plan for after my time in medical school.
