How are “destructive silence causes bad things to happen” and “blindly following tradition without understanding” themes in both stories?

Blindly Following Tradition without under standing.

This is a theme in both "The Lottery" and "The Hunger Games". This is a theme of "The Lottery" because in the story there are a lot of people that probably don't understand what they are doing. One person that we know doesn't understand is Little Dave and we know this because on the last page when it says, "Little Dave stood next to him and looked up at him wonderingly." This shows that he does not understand what he is doing and he is blindly following tradition without understanding.

"The Hunger Games" also as this theme. In "The Hunger Games" it shows this because in the movie their are a lot of people that don't understand what is going on. We know this because their are a lot of kids. The kids in the movie probably don't completely understand what the Hunger Games is because I know if someone explained it to me I definitely wouldn't understand why they do it.

Another theme that shows up in "The Lottery" a lot more than it does in "The Hunger Games" is "Destructive silence causes bad things to happen." This means that when you are silent something bad happens. No one stood up for Tessie and something awful happened to her.

This theme also shows up in "The Hunger Games" because in the story no one sticks up for up for Catniss's sister besides for Catniss. I believe that in most society a lot of people would stand up for a little girl that will most likely would have faced death in the games.

This theme is in both "The Lottery" and "The Hunger Games'' but it is not the same scenario in both stories. In "The Lottery" they are being sacrificed for the sake of good crops but in the story "The Hunger Games" they do it because the leaders find it fun. This is a big difference because the town leaders in "The Lottery" find being chosen as a very important and needed thing but in "The Hunger Games" the town leaders do it because they find it fun and as a game.

This theme shows up in both stories but definitely a lot more in "The Lottery" than it does in "The Hunger Games". We know this because In "The Hunger Games" at least Catniss sticks up for her sister but in "The Lottery" no one sticks up for Tessie, instead they turn on her.
