Intended Audience: The intended audience is PreK-3rd. This text is slightly complex. The order of the story is clear and easy to read with clear images. The illustrations support the story and in assisting the reader in determining the story. The vocabulary used is easy and familiar. There is only one theme in this book.

Synthesis: This book can be used to help teach students to make real-life connections between words and their meanings. The story portrays images that directly relate to the words being stated, thus allowing the reader to identify what specific words are that may be unclear to them. Along with this, this story shows students that they need to share things as well, thus teaching them about being caring and sharing their stuff.

The Day Punctuation Came to Town - Kimberlee Gard

Intended Audience: The intended audience is Kindergarten through 2nd grade. This text structure is slightly complex. The images shown are clear and the story is told in chronological order. The language used is moderately complex because there are words used in this story that will have to be explained to students because they will not know the meaning.

Synthesis: This story can be used to help students develop a better understanding of punctuation. Along with this, they would also develop an understanding of its use. This book would be good to use when teaching students about punctuation and would be good for them to use when they are just beginning to learn about it. The reasoning for this is because the story does give the meaning of each of the punctuation, but the reader would have to be listening and paying attention carefully to catch it.

Intended Audience: I think that the intended audience for this book can be any age. The text structure is slightly complex because the story is easy to depict and understand. I think the knowledge demands are moderately complex because there are multiple themes throughout this story that the reader would have to depict. The language used in this story is slightly complex with words and vocabulary that is easy for the reader to understand.

Synthesis: This book would be good for teaching students about helping others in time of need. This book portrays a story with images that depict how it is important to help those who need it. It also teaches that it is okay to ask for help when you do not understand something. In the story, one of the main characters needs help getting out of a closet, and the dog is the only one who is able to help her get out. I think that the moral lessons taught in this book will be beneficial for students to learn.
