- The Amazon rain forest covers 2.1 million square miles of land where 60 percent is in Brazil, Peru has 13 percent, and Colombia has 10 percent. The population is low because there is only 10 people per square mile. There is 20 million indigenous people living in the Amazon region. The population is low because of the diverse ecosystems ranging from natural savanna to swamps.
- The Andes Mountains is the world's longest mountain chain stretching along the west coast of South America. Almost 1 million square miles with a population of about 85 million.

Physical features influence where people live like near eastern Brazil in the Amazon rain forest. It can influence where they live because the Amazon rain forest is a Tropical climate and some people could not be used to it. Another physical feature would be either the Pacific ocean or the Atlantic ocean because People might adapt and start fishing near there.

Deforestation is when people cut down trees or forests and use it for their uses only. They can use it for farming, buildings or just use the trees for furniture. This is an issue in Latin America because it is happening so much in a lot of places including the Amazon rain forest. The humans who are doing it don't even care if it is hurting the environment.
