Now I'm only a teacher, but in my former school I was a teacher and I maintained the network and other IT equipment. The school was small, with 20-25 computers and maintenance was not a time problem. Since I was the only "computer guy" in the school the main problem was that I've had to find network solutions all by myself. Basically, in the end I did everything like Eleni from the video, even my classroom was similar to her. :)

We are connected to the Internet via 100 Mbps CARNet's optical fibre link. CARNet (Croatian Academic and Research Network) also maintains firewall for all schools and filters content. The network speed is satisfactory, but we haven't enough IP address.
At the beginning, the school network had only a few computers and an analog modem connection to the Internet. It was slowly upgraded, but without any strategy. I wish we could build it from the beginning. A better topology of the network would make better use of network resources, communication and security.

The Ministry trains teachers how to use some tools, but teachers eventually choose their tools. I believe that the use of online tools and communication between teachers and students works well, as opposed to communication between teachers at all levels.
The Ministry, state agencies, school administrations and teachers have no common rules or raddomandation in online communication and resource sharing. Most teachers do not even know that they have an official e-mail address. Most employees in the Ministry and state agencies are hardly used e-mail and PP. Shared work on documents is reduced to the forwarding of Word documents with comments. With such an IT ignorance, we are happy that none of those instruct us what to do and how to do it.

Fortunately, the sensitive data and information necessary for the school's business are located at Ministry's servers. Local data that does not have a backup will have to be written again. The school will analyse and enhance computer protection measures: anti virus, firewall and data backup.
It is imperative for all employees to attend an extensive data security course. If it is not so far, this event is an ideal opportunity to introduce strictly defined rules for using computers and networks safely.
I would say the media the truth, but I do not know what my principal would say.
