1. Nuts:
require minimal water and land resources to grow.
Have a relatively low carbon footprint.
Can be grown in diverse climates.

2. Oats:
Oats are considered relatively sustainable due to their lower carbon footprint compared to certain other crops. They require less water and land compared to beef production, for example.

3. Rice:
Staple food for millions of people worldwide.
Although rice production can have environmental impacts, such as water usage and methane emissions, sustainable farming practices like water management systems can mitigate these concerns.

4. Eggs:
Eggs can be considered sustainable depending on how they are produced. Eggs from free-range or organic farms that prioritize animal welfare and use sustainable practices tend to have a lower environmental impact compared to intensive egg production systems.

5. Root vegetables:
Root vegetables, like carrots and potatoes, generally have lower environmental impacts compared to resource-intensive foods like beef. although they still require lots of fertilicers, and their cultivation can contribute to soil health.

6. Fish:
Sustainable fishing practices, such as using selective fishing gear and avoiding overfished species, can make fish a relatively sustainable choice. However, unsustainable fishing practices, overfishing, and habitat destruction can have significant negative impacts on fish populations and the marine ecosystem.

7. Avocado:
Nutritional value.
They can be grown in regions where other crops struggle.

8. Beef: Beef production is often associated with high greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and water consumption. Cattle farming requires significant resources and contributes to deforestation, making it less sustainable compared to other options on this list.

Rooted vegetables: Can be produced locally in Denmark, does not require a lot of resources to maintain.
Oats: Organic, produced locally.
Eggs: Can be produced locally. Eat organically (seeds, oats etc.)
Rice: Need a lot of water. Need to be transported to Denmark.
Nuts: Depends on the nut type - but generally they are not great for the environment. Excessive packaging often in plastic. Need a lot of water, and some types have to be shipped to Denmark.
Fish (farmed): Harming the ocean floor, food waste and transportation.
Avocados don't pollute a lot it of itself but the transportation of said food item to Denmark would make them pollute more.
Beef: Cows produce a lot of methane gasses. Requires food to eat (organic food though)

Qualified answer:

1. Root vegetables can grow in a variety of climates which require fewer resources
2. Oats are pretty local, and organic, they are also relatively easy to grow
3. Eggs can be locally produced
4. Fish can be locally produced and obtained inland
5. Rice often needs to be imported, however, it is a staple crop for many people worldwide.
6. Nuts are labor intensive
7. Avocados are imported from far away and have high energy consumption, they have a relatively high water usage also
8. They burb and fart to much (methane emissions)

If you merely look at the carbon footprints, the order of which the different foods are categorized are very different, except for beef and root vegetables. However, when you include water production then our list is more correct.

Avocado
Huge amount of water needed, huge demand, mostly grown in the americas, large co2 emissions from transport, low shelflife.
3. Beef
co2 emissions transport and methane gasses, huge resource requirement upkeep, less demand than the items above, since large parts of the world does not consume cattle.
4. nuts
Huge amount of water needed, not easy to grow large demand, and transport needed.
5. eggs
high demand, methane and co2 emissions from transport, but can be farmed worldwide.
6. Fish(farmed)
farmed fish do not have the huge problem that is overfishing, wich ruins the eco system, you can cut transport costs, when you farm them locally.
7. Oats
lesser requirements, there are problems such as fumigation and transport, but they are easy to grow.
8. Root veggies
same as oats, but we think they require less.

We can clearly change our point of view about rice being at the top, because clearly BEEF belongs at the top
