1. Weber focuses on rationalization, bureaucracy, and social stratification. For him, the real decisive feature of the transformation from traditionalism to modernism is the way of thinking and the idea that modernity features a more rational system.
2. Positive. Since the market economy required more efficiency and rationality, the theory of rationalisation produced an efficient way to structuralising the factors of production.
3. Traditional. He classified the types of autority into traditional and modern, with the latter one including rational-legal and charismatic authority. He defined the traditional authority as a society led by leaders such as kings and emperors.
4. Yes, he considered that the contemporary world is easy to lose reflexibity, which means people are likely to stuck in regulated/calculated rules or routine.

1. What is the central feature of modernity, according to Weber?

Weber thought that all the spheres of society, including the economic, political, and legal spheres underwent the process of rationalization.
Weber believes that the main theory of modernization is the theory of bureaucracy.

2. Does Weber use “Rationalization” as a positive or negative aspect of the modern world? Why?

maybe negative. Because Weber feared that formal rationality would become a dominant force in modern Western society.

3. What is the antithesis of “rational” in Weber’s sense, “irrational” or “traditional”? Why?

Weber believes that the opposite of rationality and irrationality is the inevitable logic of historical development, which runs through every stage and aspect of social and historical process. The two are opposite, conflicting, and interwoven with each other, thus promoting the development of history and leading to the emergence of capitalist system.

In Weber's view, the antithesis of Rational is Traditional.

Because Traditional authority is authority in which the legitimacy of the authority figure is based around the custom. Legitimacy and power to control is handed down from the past and this power can be exercised in quite dictatorial ways. This is the type of authority in which the traditional rights of a powerful and dominant individual or group are accepted, or at least not challenged, by subordinate individuals.

4. Is Weber worried about the modern world? Explain your answer.

Yes, Weber was pessimistic and critical about the effects of modernity. He was concerned that rationalization would erode the human spirit and would eventually result in an iron cage.

1.make the society full of explicit instructions and standardized, methodical procedures.
2.positive, because people in modern society are using calculability, methodical behavior and reflexibility. In traditionalism society, everyone is relying individually while in modernity, they try to improve and find solutions. Modernity focuses on understanding the input and outputs, and using methods to achieve their outcomes.
3.Traditional society, because unlike to traditional society,'rationalization'focus on every people 's ideas to fulfill the ideal circumstance of socity, people should have this society together, while traditional socity is more prone to individual.
4.yes,he is also worried about this society, because people will be caught in a iron cage in under the bureaucratization, and the world evolves at a fast rate and it is easy to reflexibility. It can be locked in a calculated routine and the system they built from rationalization which is known as "iron cage" of bureaucratic capitalism.
