I am going to turn up on time for every lesson, and any lesson I do miss I will catch up with the work. 

I will also complete any and all homework and hand it in on time. 

I will be an active participant in lessons by taking notes of important information, asking questions about anything I dont understand and sharing my input. 

I will take note of any feedback given to me by my peers and tutor and apply it to future tasks. 

I will rehearse any performance pices in my on time as well as class time in order to be prepared to give the best performance possible.

We began by simply saying our names and our favourite food into the mic just to get an idea about how it worked.
We then were split into groups and asked to prepare a dramatic reading of an excerpt of 'The Red Badge of Courage' by Stephen Crane. One of the struggles that i faced was difficulty with the text as it is in a particular writing style that i am not used to as well as the text containing a few words with which i was not previously familiar with. 

It was interesting to realise how if you change your position slightly it can change how the sound comes out. Also we learnt to constantly be aware of our movement as is we were to move our scripts or touch the stand with our foot it would be a far louder sound than you expect. 

Having previous experience of voice acting definitely worked in my favour as I knew to be careful about plosives and movement while recording.

We began by looking at an Etsy advert. We were then each given a fake advert by Francis to practice and perform. We also briefly looked at accents; we worked on a Jamaican accent and included patois phrases.

I was given an advert called Miranda’s Boutique. We then went to find backing music for our adverts which was fairly simple as on the task sheet it had a description of suggested music that fits with the piece. So I went of the tasks description and found a piece of music that fit with the piece. Once we had the music we annotated our adverts to show visual indications of how we would perform. I places slashed where I would take a breath and I underlined any words or phrases that I wanted to put emphasis on during my performance. We then individually practiced our pieces until it was our turn in the recording booth. 

One of the struggles I faced this week was with my breath control as I was ill. In the recording alot  of my breaths were picked up by the mic which would be distracting in a real advert to a listener. He is a talented voice actor and former YouTuber and i remebered a video he made a while back called High School imoressions, so i started there. 

When i heard his impression of a cheerleading captain this character started forming in my head of this basic high school bitch. I then started writing a small paragraph using the instincts of the charater and i realised what I was writing was very simular to a scene in the 2004 film Mean Girls. Also, the character i was creating was also very simular to one of the main charcters, Regina George.  

From thre i chose to do the existing monologue from the film and i filled outthe character work sheets in order to get a well rounded character. I then rehersed it a few times and recorded myself doing it as well as getting peer feedback. Polar Patterns:
refers to a microphone's directionality or pickup pattern.

Feedback:
the return of a fraction of the output signal from an amplifier, microphone, or other device to the input of the same device; sound distortion produced by this.

Dynamics:
the varying levels of volume of sound in different parts of a performance.

Diaphragm:
a dome-shaped sheet of muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen. It is the primary muscle that the body uses when breathing. Used to proerly suppourt your breath when singing and speaking.

Laconic:
using very few words and being concise.
