Reflection on my Academic journey

Learning ‘Academic Skills’ as a module in my first year in
Samtse College of Education(SCE) has helped me in organizing, retaining information
and dealing with assignments. Academic skills also include active reading and
effectual note-taking. If I describe about my academic journey it was the last
moment cramming studies. I did not have any studying strategies until I reached
grade twelve, I created my own timetable and be disciplined. That is how I improved
a bit in my academics. My first thought about academic skills was little bit complex.

I feel that academic integrity is necessary for every scholars as it fulfills the criteria of academic wheel of law. It help us to be original and acknowledging other’s work. I learned that practicing academic integrity is a good habit and this may help reducing the number of copying. I realized that we commit academic dishonesty intentionally or unintentionally. I feel that we should do more activities that will boost our critical thinking and academic skills. It was hard yet satisfying module which help us to be an ethical academician and in future it will guide us in composing academic and literary works.

Furthermore, learning academic skills has helped me to strengthen the knowledge on different methods of effective note-taking such as outlining and mind maps. These two methods has also helped me to jot down important notes while in the middle of a lecture. To be academically honest is one of the important feature among other that guides one from being accused from the act of plagiarism. To avoid from such habit one must be aware of giving credits to the owner of the idea or the invention. Anyone who fails to abide by the integrity in academic at the college level may lead to expulsion.

BHUTAN UNIVERSITY SPORTS FEDERATION (BUSF)

Bhutan University Sports Federation which is also known as BUSF is a tournament hosted by Royal University of Bhutan(RUB) to foster a sense of community, promote friendly competition and provide recreational opportunities for students where they can engage in extracurricular activities and showcase their skills. The tournament includes games such as football, volleyball, basketball and archery and the games are played among different colleges within their region.

Under south-west region the tournament is held between three colleges, Samtse College of Education(SCE), Gedu College of Business Studies(GCBS) and College of Science and Technology(CST).

On 30th of September, Samtse College team started their journey towards Phuntsholing for their first match against College of Science and Technology.

On 7th of October, the team went to Chukha for their second match against Gedu College of Business Studies.

So lastly, it was an exciting and enriching experience . We get to meet new friends, make connections and exchange skills and strategies. It's a chance to learn from each other, appreciate different play styles and create lasting memories. Moreover, it is a great way to broaden our horizons and immerse ourself in the college sports culture.

2023 Annual Marathon

Celebrating the 68th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King of Bhutan, Samtse College of Education has organized the annual college marathon on November 11, 2023 to foster a sense of unity, well- being, and celebration exclusively among the faculty staff and students of college.

There were around 100 runners and the runners gathered at the college football ground at 6 am. After the flame of hope was lit, a male runners began running, and female runners followed suit. The male runners ran for 12km and female runners for 8km. The top 10 runners from both male and female were awarded with a cash prize by the College management after the marathon. The top 30 from both gender were awarded with a certificate on the next day.

I think it was an incredible event that brings people together to challenge themselves physically and mentally. Marathon is a celebration of determination, perseverance and the human spirit :)
