Learning to Risk Effort: Crafting Classroom Environments Conducive to Trying by Colleen Sullivan

Focusing on the negative is sometimes too easy. It is also unfair to our classroom environment, our students and ourselves. We have identified challenges in the classroom that we see across the campus community. See these challenges, add your own on Padlet or add your own on a notecard that we can post for you. Now, it is time to find a solution and help our peers with these challenges. And consider other things that could explain what we are seeing in the classroom.

Reading is assigned before class so students to be ready for discussion and active learning. When preparation before class happens, it is great with much interaction and useful questions from unclear text. Limited or no reading can result in quiet classes, limited participation and less engagement.

With "ungrading" approaches to relaxed due dates from COVID days, it is hard to make a decision and identify the best choice.
