Other states soon followed with similar legislation. These laws were later repealed but the temperance movement later strengthened back up in the late 1800's.

The prison reform and Care for the disabled reform was the reform to improve the prison conditions and have better care for the mentally ill.The conditions in the prisons were dangerous and not well cleaned. A lot of the people that were in jail for debt as low as twenty dollars had the same punishment as thief's.That was unfair to the people in debt because they had to live in the same poor conditions as the burglars but didn't really do anything just in debt. The were food shortages, kids locked up with adults, people were chained to the walls, and the cells were dark and not clean

The Mentally ill reform was the reform to have a special hospital and better conditions for the mentally ill. Since they didn't know much at all about the mentally ill the just threw them in prison with the others because they were mentally ill. Dorothea Dix saw this happening and she decided to create a mentally ill hospital for the mental ill. They would have certain and special care for their disability. There health and home conditions got a lot better thanks to her. They were now actually cared for rather than just thrown in prisons.
