Emergencies, like flooding, accidents, fires and medical emergencies, can happen on a daily basis and it requires immediate response. Even with Central 911, it still poses a challenge due to the huge expanse of land and number of population. Since 2013, we trained SK officials with our CERT program to be the first responders in their communities, thus bridging the gap between victim and hospital-care. We have a lot of incidents where our CERT graduates have already provided the necessary first aid/pre-hospital care thus improving the survivability of the victim. Also, majority of our CERT graduates are now embedded within the BDRRMCs and some of them are now employed in different agencies in the government dealing with emergency response.
