I started observing how school districts worked and I did not like it. They treat students like robots. Now, it is required for every student to learn and work in the same way. I can't believe that a variety of hearts and brains are expected to function the same exact way. In my opinion that is not convenient. In other words, I want to become a teacher to help every student learn, work and shine, each in their own way. I want to see beyond every student's heart. Their hidden talents, abilities to work in different ways and what else there is to see besides the basic things school requires. I want to help them discover their true self and that it is okay to be different. I want to interact with students from ages 15 to 18, that would be 9th to 12th grade. "What would you like to be when you grow up?" "A teacher," was my response! As I grew older and continued my education, the exact same question followed along in elementary. Once I hit high school, my response had made a sudden change to "I don't know." Grown ups started to influence me to change my mind. I was told it was not good enough, that I won't survive in the real world with that salary, and much more negativity. College time came for me. I had become undecided. One day of so much thinking, I eventually came to the conclusion, "whose life is it anyway?" Mine! That is why I am now taking this course, I am ready to take lead in my life and go towards my dreams. I love Math, and that is why I have chosen to become a Math instructor. Grade level really does not matter for me, but I do have a preference in the secondary level for the reason that I began to enjoy the Math subject the most. An 8th grade Math teacher, would be my best choice. I enjoy teaching others what I already know, and share with others what works best for me, in hope that they will also understand what has become clear to me. I would like to teach math because math has always been a simple subject to me and I think it would be an easy subject to teach kids.]]> 2017-09-01 19:24:44 UTC https://padlet.com/mevans316/wficif0wgbep/wish/184304460 nowakowski351 https://padlet.com/mevans316/wficif0wgbep/wish/184314463 One of the main reasons I want to become a teacher is to be able to impact the lives of children.  I would love to be able to teach Agricultural Science to high school level kids.  There is no specific grade level for Agriculture classes since it is considered an elective in school.  For many years, I have been a part of one of the greatest organizations, which is Future Farmers of America (FFA).  Being in an Agriculture class, you learn about the importance of animals, plants, mechanics, and medicine.  The best part about being a part of an Agriculture class is the choice you have to raise livestock projects.  By raising these projects, the children learn responsibility, work ethic, time management, how to set goals, and business skills at such an early age.  These are all the skills that I have learned being in this lovely organization and these are all the skills I would love to teach our next generation of leaders.
