BERLIN CONFERENCE (1884)

The Berlin Conference was an agreement between several European countries over the land of Africa. Seven of these countries were Great Britain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Belgium. all of the rulers in these countries met in berlin and discussed who would own what land. they thankfully succeeded this without any fighting between the European countries. the only problem was fighting between the enemy ethnic groups that were put together in one country.

INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION (1750 1800)

The industrial revolution was when technology rapidly increased in the USA. They had slaves working on the fields, but now machines could do what they did. The benefit was that they were cheaper, didn't die, always did what you wanted them to without complaining, and there was no flaw in their work. This was also a large part in the end of the slave trade.

THE SLAVE TRADE IS OUTLAWED (1700s)

In the 1700s parts of the world finally realized how mean they had been to the slaves. some people realized that the Africans were them, just with a different colored skin. Another factor to the end of the slave trade was the industrial revolution. with the introduction of machines they didnt need physical laybor anymore.

COLONIZATION OF THE INTERIOR OF AFRICA (1736)

Now, the Europeans are starting to realize that the interiors of Africa are worthy of their time too. this begins the scramble for African where several European countries fought over pieces of Africa. this started a fight between the european countries

EUROPEANS COLONIZED THE COASTS OF AFRICA (1652)

The Europeans started to colonize the coasts of Africa. They do this because they only plan on protecting trade routes. also they colonized the coasts to capture slaves to sell to other countries for cash.

THE SLAVE TRADE BEGINS (1500s)

The slave trade began in the 1500s because of the need for workers on the plantations, in the new world. They created something called the triangular slave trade. This was a trade route between 3 different countries. It is called the Triangular slave trade because it forms a triangle. The British gave Africa weapons, alchohol, and clothing; Africa gave the USA slaves; and the USA gave Europe sugar, coffee, and tobacco.

TRADE ROUTES (1400s)

The British and Africans became major trade partners. The British gave the Africans goods and weapons that the Africans really needed. In exchange, the Africans gave the british natural resources and things the british didn't really have access to.
