The Difference

Transcendentalism and Romanticism were similar when it came to nature but not beliefs. Transcendentalism had more to do with God, how your connection internally was with him but Romanticism not so much. Romanticism believed in woman nature and not in "goodness comes from God". To add onto that, Romanticism believed in good and bad are acts of human nature whereas transcendentalism believed because people were good, that meant they had God in them. Romanticism is about reasoning and Transcendentalism about senses that came from inside your body, very different from one another. Overall, their difference laid in the purpose of life and different concepts of God/the "spirit" within us.

The Transcendentalist was a belief where a big group of people believed in redefining freedom in a changing world. They believed they had their own individual power to change the world. The market revolution sparked the Transcendentalism movement by changes in the economy. Rationality became one of the biggest sparks to the Transcendentalism movement because they believed that humans are good but are corrupted by society and the way they are treated. The Market revolution left many men and women with hard working jobs creating slaves and less freedom.

Henry David Thoreau's Walden:

"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation," (Thoreau 207). & "For most men, it appears to me, are
in a strange uncertainty about it, whether it is of the devil or of God, and have somewhat hastily concluded that it is the chief end of man here to 'glorify God and enjoy him forever'," (Thoreau 208). In page 209, he's basically saying that people would rather point to blame others than handling it themselves. They're quick to blame when something happens and also, nothing is new to them when something happens. "I might almost say, but would forsake all and follow that sound, not mainly to save property from the flames, but, if we will confess the truth, much more to see it burn, since burn it must, and we, be it known, did not set it on fire,—or to see it put out, and have a hand in it, if that is done as handsomely; yes, even if it were the parish church itself," (Thoreau 209). In "from Solitude", Thoreau is arguing about how the surroundings of people and the surroundings of nature are very much different. He enjoys being alone, his mind and spirit are at peace, without interruptions. Thoreau believes people are much more lonely when surrounded by each other then rather being alone literally. "I feel wholesome to be alone", by this he thinks being lonely, in nature, will make him whole. He's trying to be whole spiritually and mentally and by doing that, he went into nature, into solitude, to find his inner self. He feels comfortable with being around nature than being around people who just gossip and don't help him with becoming whole.

Explanation

In Tupac's Song "Changes" he talks about how in society now and days are being treated unfairly. In Tupac's song he said "one better place, let's erase the wasted, Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right". In this quote this relates to society because society is the evil person who created the market revolution and caused many people to lose freedom. Another meaning behind that quote is that when tupac said "one better place, let's erase the wasted" this parallels to the people who lived in those times because they want to live in good conditions and not bad. What thoreau is arguing about is that it's better to be alone then with a group of friends. Just like the transcendentalist with their belief of having their own individual powers to change the world, Thoreau believes being alone helps support yourself more than with others.
