Cultural landmark

The most famous landmark on the island is a small rusty boat that can be found at the side of the shore. This was the mode of transportation that was used by the first group of people that arrived on the island and kickstarted the civilization. In order to commemorate this historic event, the people in the community decided to keep the boat where it was originally anchored. Given that the community prioritizes honing the skills, especially of the younger generations, the landmark is often visited by the locals and/or students to keep the historical figure and its story alive.

Egalitarian society that puts emphasis on equity and equality concepts

People here don’t necessarily believe in a god/deity, but more of appreciate and respect nature and the “gifts” that were given to them as a result of their origins.

A group of people ended up in an unfamiliar island; to survive, each of them took on different sets of tasks or developed skills that would help all of them collectively survive and thrive in their foreign environment.

Their society now focuses on specializing on their skills to make up a productive and functional society. As opposed to having beliefs that prioritize gender, that of which determines roles and status in society, civilization instead can be made up of a community of people that are determined by their different skill sets, interests, and capabilities

Since the civilization is set to be near water, the people in the society are known for using water as an essential resource for sustainable living as well as for their corresponding livelihoods, e.g. fishing. More specifically, the primary livelihood of the people is fish farming/aquaculture/fish production. Fish continues to become high in demand back then and even now as the human population continues to grow. Since the civilization is near water, it would be easily accessible for them to catch fish and artificially grow them in enclosed areas in order to be sold as food. Aquaculture has several benefits such as fish being an alternative food source because of the health benefits it contains, i.e. omega threes and fatty acids. It also serves as an alternative fuel source because algae contains lipids that could replace contemporary fossil fuels and its only by-product will be water when burnt. Furthermore, due to the civilization’s advantage of being an area around big water bodies, trade was also prevalent. Due to their main food and protein source being fish, it was rare to see the people eat meat/land animals. International trade in this civilization often involved the trading of poultry, eggs, red meat, etc. in order to combat what was lacking in the civilization back then.

How the society looks like

In this society centered around honing skills and finding new ways to continuously improve the once unfamiliar/uninhabited island, it would be normal to see groups of experts teaching the younger generations of their traditions. It may be seen as something similar to a school, but with the curricula designed to help the students contribute to building their new culture. Such an example would be economics and finance, as they participate in international trading, or different workshops to pass down the knowledge that they used to start their civilization with. These learning centers would not be found in one place, as they will be scattered throughout the land so that everyone may have access to it. As a starting society, they welcome everyone to learn what they want to learn and they also encourage innovations such as interdisciplinary skills or the integration of modern technology.

Additionally, given that they prioritize taking care of their surroundings and resources (as they consider these as gifts), they also strictly implement sustainable ways of living to ensure that their land will continue to flourish alongside them. Thus, they have regulatory policies to avoid exploitation of resources. Lastly, they largely promote the culture of sharing and giving, since it was how they started in the first place.
