¨In contrast, scholarships programs can help students afford college without strings attached.¨
I chose this one because many students can be afraid to apply to scholarships because of the difficulty but this quote clears up that confusion.
¨Having that time to focus on school work can lead to better grades and allow students to earn their college degrees on time.¨
This is important because many students flunk, drop out, or do not have the motivation for college because of student debt. This quote shows how scholarships can help prevent these incidents and let students focus on themselves for a change.
¨Even after graduation, scholarship recipients can add these awards to their resumes to boost their appeal.¨
This quote is super important to me because it shows that scholarships can benefit you while looking job offers. Scholarships mean you are smart and eligable for certain job tittles which can benefit you in the long run.

My attitude will make a tremendous impact on my success and the success of my peers. I plan to succeed; I plan to make a difference and to be a contributing member of my society and culture. I know that it is my responsibility to do everything in my power to create a better tomorrow for myself, for those I love, and for those who will someday benefit from my talents, preparation, commitment, and success.

In the world during the 1960ś the Vietnam war had just begun and minorities were being racially targeted. Social climate during this time was hostile because of the racial climate, protests against the world. Communities began to organize themselves. Individuals began to take a stand in demand for justice by becoming political.

The Chicano Monatorium

The Chicano Moratorium was a political movement where minorities protested the Vietnam War by marching down East L.A. People broke out into riots and police used tear gas and shotguns on protesters along with beating on women. This event was so significant because it inspired a generation of Chicano activists to go forth the world and become our communities' future.

Righteous indignation is anger that is primarily motivated by a perception of injustice or other profound moral lapse. The name “the sleeping giant” is a metaphor that represents Chicanos expanding its size and growth as well as the way their political participation and electoral success have lagged behind other groups, notably whites and African-Americans. Social injustice refers to wrongful actions against individuals within society. Homophobia, ageism, and discrimination are three common social injustice examples.

Paula joined with other student alumni in the neighborhood to create a protest group against all the social injustice in school. She got students to protest with her. She did this because of the social injustice her friends face everyday. Paula's mom reacted with a smile when she saw Paula because she wanted her to fight for what she believed in. Paula's dad reacted badly because he thinks the American government are good people and protesting against them is out of respect. The students did not stop the walkouts because they were scared and knew what they were doing was right. No, it was not necessary for students to be treated with brutality.

I felt like crying when I saw Paula's mom and grandmother walk out holding the Mexican flag. Some of the students demands were to fire any teacher who shows prejudice, have restrooms remain open, not have janitorial duties as punishment, be allowed to speak spanish whenever they want, and have more spanish speaking teachers.

On the night of prom 13 students who were involved in planning the walkout were arrested by Robert their 'friend'. I think it was messed up when Robert betrayed them and exposed them because he was helping them the entire time as well. He also lied to Paula and made her think he liked her just to get intel.

When Paula goes to apologize to her father and give up she learns that her dad tells her to keep pushing and fighting for what she believed in. He secretly wishes her to keep pushing in the protesting and this gives her enough motivation to fight for their classmates.
