- Sharing models which worked successfully can help the community locally and globally . For example while watching CoSN17 we heard about JAAGO Foundation . Their model can either be used in collaboration with them or others can copy and do the same. What works best is when instead of starting over from scratch we should rather collaborate with proved model partners. Like JAAGO's online schools can be used to educated kids in areas where education is needed such as Dominican Republic and Africa .

Collaboration is the Key

Umoja has partnered with a number of schools and districts in direct instruction (via Umoja seminar courses), through Peace Rooms (school spaces) and a PD vendor. It would be necessary, though, to be "trained" in which competency list to use/which framework to follow.

It may be possible to incorporate global competencies across all the strands of our work since we encounter various school stakeholders in varying degrees. Students could learn more via our seminar classes and/or other school programs. Teachers + local school admin could know more via PD session, post-secondary leadership team meetings or other information sessions (and could then, disseminate to students via social science classes/initiatives and to parents).

We could also boost awareness via social media posts - making connections between our work around social emotional development, global competencies and technology
(Sorry I didn't get to meet all of you - missed due to illness)

ISTE Standards (formally NETS, renamed to eliminate a US-centric name) calls for global competency for Students, Teachers & Administrators. Perhaps a global meet-up (in partnership with SAS, perhaps.) Use the ISTE conference as an actual meet-up with a focused set of activities to connect educators from around the globe. Follow up with online meet-ups and other social media/PLC.

+ ISTE might set & support up global exchanges among groups of schools. (Perhaps in partnership with UNESCO, IRON, etc.

+ Look at UNESCO 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development and choose one for ISTE to partner on to focus/deepen/broaden the impact
