Jonas at the start of the novel was trying not to make mistakes and follow the Community's rules. Jonas also learned from his mistakes such as when he said "That's it, Asher! You're released!' after that Jonas was pulled aside by Jonas's coach and had to say sorry to Asher because of saying that and he hasn't done something like that since. Just like how computers do what the computers are meant to do and they fix their mistakes by the company that made the computers might upgrade and fix the computers. So basically the manufacturers are the Community fixing the people which would be the computers and making them better so the people in the Community are perfect.

Jonas is more cheerful and seems more eager since he has been chosen as the Receiver of Memory and Jonas also broke away from Sameness. Jonas seems more cheerful an eager because he really likes his job and the memories Jonas has been receiving eager to experience memories such as when Jonas received the memory of snow, hills, and a sled (pg 103-104). The way Jonas broke away from Sameness is when he kept "Seeing beyond" because he started to see the color red like someone being unchained or set free.

Jonas at the end of the novel starts acting and choosing his own path and going against the Community's decisions and rule's. He begins to get to know emotions better after training with The Giver for so long. Jonas then planned an escape with The Giver because The Giver and Jonas wanted to change the Community so Jonas had to leave and fake his own death while The Giver would help the Community cope with Jonas's death by giving the memories to the people in the community.
I chose a bird flying because birds are free and choose where they want to go not limited by anyone just like when Jonas escaped the Community he became free and kept going on like a bird flying and going where the bird needs to go.

So the rainbow would be pleasant and not gloomy if the weather was rainy, and the rainbow surrounded by lush green forests. Covered by white fluffy clouds above the rainbow.
I chose the memory of the rainbow because when Jonas received the memory Jonas looked at the world differently making Jonas different from people in the Community and also making him break away from Sameness.

YOUR ANSWER--
The role of making announcements to point out mistakes in the Community is to make people in the Community feel pressured to be perfect because the Community is an Utopia.(Authors viewpoint = to publicly shame people so they obey the rules.)
-----------------------------
Your Answer--
Since the Community is an Utopia the rule against bragging is trying to make everyone equal and the same. The impact of that rule on the Community is making sure no one in the Community is trying to show off or boast about their accomplishments.
-----------------------------
Your Answer--
Third person limited because on page 66-67 the narrator says "Jonas was certainly glad that that Assignment was taken..."
-----------------------------
Your answer--
Jonas felt apartness and was also shocked. Jonas felt apartness because Jonas's job was very important and Jonas would train alone and apart from everyone else. The reason Jonas was shocked is when he started reading the rules for his training to become the next Receiver like the last rule Jonas can lie.
-----------------------------
Your answer--
Jonas was joyous and eager he seemed to be more joyous after receiving the pleasant memories of snow, hills, and a sled. The reason Jonas was eager is because he wanted to have more fun or pleasant memories.
-----------------------------
A. A protagonist is the central character in the story.
Ex: Izuku Midoriya from Boku no Hero Academia is the protagonist.
B. The antagonist is the opposing force or character who leads the conflict against the protagonist.
Ex: L. Lawliet from Deathnote.
C. Jonas is the protagonist because in the story the book mainly focuses on Jonas's feelings, emotions, and the way Jonas changes throughout the story.
The antagonist in The Giver is The Giver because The Giver is the one that changed Jonas emotionally and made him realize and experience new things such as when The Giver showed Jonas the memory of a rainbow.
-----------------------------

Climax

AKA--The Ah-ha moment or popcorn moment.
Directions--This novel is considered to have more than one moment that is the climax of the story. What do you consider to be the climax? Why? You may add an image, but you are required to add a quote that represents the climax you chose. Then explain how that quote connects.
Example--In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a quote that stands out for me is, "It's my life, it's now or never," written by Jon Bon Jovi. When Dorothy destroys Wicked Witch, it was do or die time for her. The quote from a song, shows that Dorothy is taking charge of her life and has to do something now in order to save herself and her friends.
I believe the climax is when Jonas plans an escape with The Giver but has to go earlier so Jonas could save Gabriel from release. Which meant Jonas couldn't receive the extra memories of courage and strength. The journey was also difficult for Jonas to handle because not only did Jonas have to run away from the Community and avoid being caught by the search planes but he also had to go through the different climates and landscapes while also making sure Gabriel isn't hurt.

“When you find your path, you must ignore fear. You need to have the courage to risk mistakes. But once you are on that road... run, run, run, and don't stop til you've reached its end.” --José N. Harris, Mi Visa
This represents the journey Jonas went through because he disliked the Community's rules and decisions but even though Jonas had to escape a little early because Jonas didn't want Gabriel to get released he still kept going on his journey.

"Breaking Free" by Jamie Houston connects to The Giver because Jonas eventually chooses his own path escaping the Community and learning many things after being taught by The Giver. In the end Jonas chose to escape with Gabriel and leaving The Giver behind in the end because he didn't want Gabriel to be released and going through a long and treacherous journey while also taking care of Gabriel and avoiding being spotted by the search planes. Breaking free from the Community's control.
