Defensive behavior is the reaction that one organisms has when it feels as if it is in grave danger. There are many different examples of defensive behavior in the wild as well as in human nature. For example, when threatened, cats tend to bend their backs upwards, causing the cat to look greater in size then what it actually is. This can help the cat survive when in certain scenarios that it feels trapped in.

There is one reason that defensive behavior has become a common behavior in all organisms, this is due to the fight or flight response. The fight or flight response is the main idea behind defensive behavior and why it is a thing. The fight or flight response is the response to the presence of danger. If the organism feels as if it has no where to go then fight will become the option that it chooses. If the organism knows that there is no chance for them to survive in a fight then they will choose to run away from the danger.

Defensive behavior is one of the most important traits of organism which allows them to survive. Without this behavior, then in dire situations, adrenaline would not be pumped through the body helping the creature to survive. Also without defensive behavior, then creatures will have nothing to rely on first when threatened.
