Generally I crack the rest of my fingers too. I do this multiple times a day. It’s a self-assuring action but also a manifestation of my need to fidget. I do it passively when I’m pensive and I do it intentionally to bring myself back to focus. It signifies grounding and focus. 

This meaning is reflected in the action of the thumb pressing down on the other fingers. Additionally, there is the meaning of release since a pressure is relieved once the knuckle cracks.
