The festival takes place annually in mid – October. The festival hosts competitions for preparing the best dishes of Kazakh cuisine, such as beshbarmak, baursak, kuyrdak and other dishes that are part of Kazakh and Kazakhstani culinary traditions. Each year, the festival attracts several thousand guests. The symbol of the festival is the kazan. The kazansymbolizes friendship. The main competitions of the festival are: preparing the best bauyrsak, the best beshbarmak and kuyrdak, national equestrian sports games, competitions among bloggers, building a yurt and others. Kazakhstani cuisine today includes not only traditional Kazakh dishes but also dishes from other ethnic groups living in Kazakhstan, such as borscht, samsa, pilaf, manti and more. The festival arena is designed as an improvised Kazakh village, divided into thematic zones. The festival arena also features the Auyl Masters area, where craftsmen, artisans and weavers engaged in the production of national products and souvenirs are gathered, where anyone can make any souvenirs or products. In 2014, the festival set a record by preparing 900 kilograms of baursaks. The "Toikazan" festival also features a competition for the best national costumes. These include Kazakh, Russian, Uzbek, and other traditional costumes.
