  • The Kansa tell a story of creation about how our land was created. it begins with the great spirit creating man and woman. The two lived on a small island surrounded by a lot of water. As more and more children were born to the couple, the island became so crowded it was necessary to throw the extra people  into the sea. The woman felt guilty and prayed to the great spirit to give them more land to survive. The great spirit responded by giving them animals such as beavers and turtles to expand the land. Eventually earth became the size it is now.  
  • The kansa usually stayed in a village but did hunt for extended periods of time. 
  • If a group got too large, they would separate to better serve it's population
  • They would travel land in smaller groups.
  • Movement should be simple because of the plain land in kansas.

  • In the early 1990s, agricultural practices overworked the land. As a result, Kansas got a lot of windstorms and droughts.
