My favorite calculation of movement is acceleration. This is because realistically, very little calculations in the real world will have constant speed. Objects are always accelerating and deaccelerating, and that's what Newton Physics are all about. Speed is really only useful when you are measuring something theoretical, and velocity is pretty much only used in the military. Acceleration is definitely the most important type of speed to know.

Thats why I prefer speed.

While velocity requires a known direction and acceleration takes multiple steps, speed is quick and convenient. It's also the basis of velocity and acceleration. Without speed, you can't find either of those things.
