They are the only species of Sea Turtles that lack scales and a hard shell, and where named after there rubbery skin. The have existed in their current form since the age of dinosaurs. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1970 Leatherbacks began to be known as endangered. Some of the threats include harvest of eggs and killing of the turtles, habitat loss, nest predation, vessel strikes, entanglement, ingestion of marine debris. Their greatest threat is accidently getting caught in fishing gear.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1982 the global population of these species was an estimated 115,000. In 1996 dropping down to about 30-40,000. As of today their are approximately 20,000 to 30,000 nesting females and unknown males. It has been estimated that 11,000 sea turtles get caught in nets each year majority being Leatherbacks. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They feed on Jelly fish which keep the jelly fish population in check. Without leather backs to eat the jelly fish, the jelly fish population would explode. Jelly fish feed off of Laval fish and with all the jelly fish eating all the fish there would be no more fish in the sea. </div>]]></description>
