I found several aspects of the resources helpful in planning my learning center. I learned that each center needs a purpose (“Learning Center,” n.d.). I planned my learning center to reinforce content regarding human body systems. The readings reminded me that choice creates the most effective learning environment (“Learning Center,” n.d.). Also, students need the opportunity to problem solve and create. I am applying my learning by offering students different engineering challenges; students will be tasked to create a model of a human body system. One tip I found helpful is the idea that students should complete a self-evaluation at each center (McFarland-McDaniels, n.d.). For the purpose of my center, I created a reflection sheet for students to complete. Since my center is teacher planned and teacher directed, I recognize it is a Level 1 or Traditional Learning Center (Snowden & Christian 1998). I plan to use the suggestion from the video, and use my learning center as a lesson (Teachings in Education, 2018).
