My concern is wanting to start focusing on the Mathematical Practices with my students and not overwhelming them with terminology/icons but find a way to cross the thinking strategies with the practices... Idea: is it possible to integrate the strategies into the SMP to prevent academic language overload and loss of concept.

1. My idea is to use the thinking strategies in word problems, so that kids have to make sense of a problem before determining the operation being used.
2. Strategies I have used are teaching a few strategies individually and concretely.
3. My next steps are how to start using all of the thinking strategies in a text and in math. I would also like to use Padlet as a fun tool for my kids.
