Sodapop serves as a foil to Darry because Darry is working, smart and acts as a father and Soda is a drop out. They grew up together and experienced the same things, but are different in the way that they carried out their lives. Johny is a foil character because, although they go on the same journey and have the same friends, they have different back rounds and different ways of showing emotion.
