Fortunately we are in the 21st century and the world is known as a whole planet.
International mindedness means for me to be conscient that we are not alone on the planet and all our acts implie the whole planet (the butterfly effect).
It also means that we can perhaps find somewhere on the planet a solution to some of our trouble.
We need to think further, wider, more careful to others.
This is the way of thinking of a Biology teacher, but the Economists, the Politicians, the Travelers, the Cynicals may have a différent way of seing that.

To be a citizen is sometimes difficult.
To be a global citizen is harder then.
Thats means to make ourbrain not only to think locally.
That means to learn languages, to spend time abroad, to compare, to be abble to accept others, to be curious, to be sharing, not to be an egoist.
That means accepting and apprciating differences.

I think that Biology is the best disciplin to achieve that goal. Global warming, COP21 in Paris, Biodiversity are such subjects that implie students in that global approach of the Nature and of the World.
The actualities helps us to present the global citizenship and that we are a very small part of a vast world (not so vast when we spoil it) and the students have no difficulty to understand that looking too narrow is not enough.

Not all the parts of the program are connected with global citizenship, but when we learn Planet, Biodiversity, Ecosystems, Pollution, Global warming, the videos are not lacking. I use every year that video in front of the students in order to make solemnity about our world.
I encourage you to see it (it longs only 4'10 and is in French), it is very pessimistic but very realistic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3qbkV-SdxQ
I also use Statistica documents : https://fr.statista.com/ which is full of free documents.

It is perhaps the easiest part of our courses. Learning the details and remind the key-words is harder.
All students understand they belong to a global world (by buying electronics from abroad for instance). The state of the planet is an everyday concern. Politics speak about it, medias do so, commercial brands use such arguments.
In short, everywhere students look, the international understanding is present.
We have, as teachers, to make some order in that ideas, to explain the facts, to encourage our students to think to solutions ans to explain them that in some years, they will be on commands of the planet.
