In this cartoon, the third estate is illustrated lifting up the other two higher estates. You can also tell that by doing this, the third estate is suffering. This is shown with the representation of the third estate as an old man, who things must already for because of his age (just like how it must already be hard for the third estate to pay their taxes because they have the least amount of money in the first place) is leaning over in order to stand up and keep the two higher estates up. The paper in the two higher estate's pockets and the absence of paper in the third estate's pocket shown that there is no money from this estate because they are forced to give all their money to the higher estates in order to lift them up. The third estate is also wearing ripped and worn clothes while the higher estates are wearing extremely fancy clothes. The third estates gardening tool is only this really holding up the estates which represents that the third estate is really doing all the work.

How does this cartoon summarize the problems of the economy before the French Revolution? Support your answer with specific details from the cartoon and information from class.

2. In this cartoon you can see that the Third Estate is carrying the First, and Second Estates. To me, this is symbolizing that without the Third Estate, none of the other estates would be able to be as powerful. When you look at the tired, old man from the Third Estate shown in the political cartoon you can see that the First and Second Estates depend on the Third Estate for everything in their lives. Labor, money, power. It is easy to see that the Third Estate is suffering greatly. The Third Estate is doing every single piece of the work while First and Second Estates just sit. Happy and comfortable, with not a care in the world about anyone else. This proves that the First and Second Estates are very happy with the way that the government and tax system are run because they don't have to pay a dime or work at all, while the Third Estate has to work for everything piece of money they earn and then hand everything over to the Clergy (First Estate) and the Nobles (Second Estate). The Third Estate is the backbone of the whole society. The things that they produce are the only thing keeping the society from crumbling down.

the cartoon displays the unfairness in the French Society as well as the disregard for the lower classes. The third estate was abused and forced into not only paying taxes for everyone, but supplying food to the general public. They were probably one of the, if not the most important estate for the French Revolution. The first and second estates abused their power immensely.

This Cartoon shows how French Society worked pre-revolution by showing how the third class were the backbone of society and truly held society up. Without the third class France would have almost no way to make money, because the third class worked and would have to pay all the money towards taxes that helped support the upper two classes.

Support your answer with specific details from the cartoon and information from class.
2.This cartoon shows how the First and Second Estate don't have to do any of the work. The Third Estate is the one holding the gardening tool. This represents, as said before, how the Third Estate does all the work while the other two estates sit back and don't do anything. The First and Second Estate in the cartoon are also smiling whereas the Third Estate has a frown. This shows that the first two estates are happy with the way everything is run (Because they don't have to pay taxes or work as hard). It also shows how the Third Estate is furious by the way the government is ruin. You can see that the First and Second Estate have tons of money spilling out of their pocket whereas the Third Estate has no money at all. Finally, The first two Estates have nice and expensive clothes whereas the third Estate has worn down, old clothes with a rip in the sleeve.

In this cartoon it shows the third estate holding up the first and second estates which shows that the third estate is doing all of the stuff for the King and the first and second estate are just riding around on hid back. Also, the guy that is representing third estate is very old unlike the first and second estate. So the third estates is forced to do all of the work for the first and second estate. Also, the guy is holding a gardening tool and his clothes are very ripped up and the first and second estate have nice clothes on and are caring money in their jackets which shows a lot of power and that they don't work hard.

It shows the a person from the second and first estate sitting on a person who is part of the third estate's back. Without the Third Estate, France would be in trouble because they would not have people such as farmers and merchants to do the things they need done. In the cartoon, it is clear that the man from the third estate is tired and old, while the two people from the first and second estate look very nice and wealthy.

This drawing is a depiction of the way society struggled during this time period. In the first and second estate the clothing emphasizes the difference in wealth from the third, and the diminutive size implies the top estates' greed and selfish ways. The animals on the ground both represent the place and the role in society that the third estate holds. The age difference between the man carrying and the two men on his back further stresses the imbalance and impracticality of tasks in day to day life.

2. This cartoon summarizes the great difference and unfairness between the first and second estate and the third estate. The third estate does most of the hard work like farming, building, and etc. while the second and third estates don't do as much work but are richer. This shows that the clergy and the nobles make the peasants do all the harder jobs, but the nobles profit from the peasants work with taxes. In the cartoon, this is symbolized by having the two men carried on the peasants back.

This cartoon shows that the farmer (3rd Estate) is being bombarded/overtaken by the 2nd and 3rd Estates. We can see that the member of the 3rd estate is being crushed and having to bend over in order to support the weight of the other two people. This symbolizes that the 3rd Estate is the backbone of the country when doing labor, but not so much in gaining wealth. The cartoon portrays the other two characters in well-made outfits and very happy, containing plenty of wealth in their pockets. Both the 1st and 2nd Estate have a lot of wealth and reliance on the 3rd estate for the dirty work of the country. The animals represent the other people who are just doing what they can to survive and getting the scraps from the other 3 estates.

The third class is bigger than both the second and first estates and I think that represents the fact that the third estate is about 96% of the population. The third estate is also doing all the hard work and supporting both their own estate and also the second and first. Not only that but the first two estates have so much extra money it's falling out of their pockets, while the third estate has almost none. Also the third estate has a farming tool in his hand which represents the physical labor and farming done by them.

This cartoon summarizes the problems by showing how unevenly power was distributed throughout the economy. By showing the two most powerful classes sitting on top of the lower class's back, it is implied that the lower class had to suffer while the upper classes were thriving. The man that is bent completely over is also depicted as being tired and old, which could represent how the lower class had to work a lot harder only to still not receive acknowledgement. His shirt is ripped, which signifies lack of wealth, and the other two are wearing fancy clothes, which once again enforces the unevenness in their society and wealth.

This cartoon shows us how the society worked back then. It shows you that the third estate(the old man at the bottom) was carrying the other 2 estates. The third estate provided food and workers for the upper estates. The first estate was the only one that didn't really have to help another estate they only had to help themselves. The size of the people show you how many people are in each estate themselves. This cartoon really shows you how they treated one another back then. It reminds me of how in todays world we still have social classes but they are not as apparent.

It shows the 1st and 2nd estate level to each other, which shows that they take sides with each other. On the ground there are animals, gardening tools, and crops. This resembles the occupation of the 3rd Estate and how they are treated lesser; like animals. The Nobles sword is pointed on one of the animals which shows how they threaten the 3rd class. The 1st and 3rd estates have money falling out of their pocket which displays their wealth. The 3rd estate has hole in its shirt. This most likely resembles the poor but could also show hard work. 3rd estate is backbone and the gardening tool is keeping them up.

This depicts how the other two estates were solely dependent on the Third Estate and how hard this estate worked to hold up the economy. It also shows the difference in wealth between the three estates. The first and second have money spilling out of their pockets, while the farmer has holes in his shirt. The other two men also seem to be well fed and plumper than the farmer, indicating they have more food, wealth, and power than him.

In the cartoon you can see that the farms are not producing nearly as much as expected or that they used to because of drought. You can tell by the state of the three men's clothes which class they belong to and that they clearly have more income than the man supporting them. Also the king isn't pictured in the cartoon at all showing that he is failing to help the country, and his lack of power in society.
