D.R. where our main dish is called La Bandera (the flag) and for sure you hear music and most houses you walk by. We dance when we clean, cook and for anything we choose. One of my favorite time of year is spring because it's mangoes season (you sit with a bucket full of all kinds of mangoes and eat as much as you please) and christmas because it's family time but I wouldn't be a Dominican if I didn't like Baseball, our most played sport.

Being a woman is not always easy especially when you're working full time, going to school full time and trying to raise a child but having my own family has been one of the greatest blessing in my life and it's definitely a big part of who I am. My daughter who was born in the U.S. but is constantly surrounded by Dominican food, music, and people makes me wonder which culture will have a bigger impact in her life. As a mother I teach her about both cultures because she's an American-Dominican citizen, I want her to know all about her ancestors, history, customs and ethic. As a wife I have to be of great support to my husband who'll be adapting to this new culture; which I had to do ten years ago. But being a woman is beautiful, being a mother is just greatness and being a wife is self-lessness. I have practice psychology in so many ways that I can't even count but never matched the title with the description. I have been working with kids for four years and in that time I have met beautiful minds with great potential that have chosen not to do anything with their life and I just couldn't understand why, so I always tried to help them see what everyone saw in them. Listening to them and feeling their joy, pain, struggles and success when they accomplished something has grown on me and has impacted my life. I'm currently working as an English Language Learners coordinator and I'm surrounded by beautiful minds, all with differents views, ideas, cultures and appearance. Being part of a team helped me developed kindness, leadership, and one important thing it helped me learned all about failure and still feel proud of my team and what I was doing. Playing softball showed me that there's a lot I can handle if I pushed through the pain. Giving your heart not just 100% but your heart every time you stepped on that field was something hard especially when there were teamates who took the game for just a game.
