SX-One MicroKnife was invented to provide patients the opportunity to have a minimally invasive procedure by their surgeon in office. By performing this procedure in office instead of open surgery patients have a smaller incision site done by local anesthetic, which allows them to have a quicker recovery. Patients recover in 3 to 6 days compared to 6 to 8 weeks when done in the operating room. The MicroKnife used with ultrasound guidance allows the surgeon more control to dissect the carpal ligament. When dissection occurs it releases pressure on the median nerve, thus relieving the patients pain.

SX-One MicroKnife is a great addition to orthopedic surgeons. This micro invasive tool will allow surgeons to treat more patients with carpal tunnel syndrome because it does not require the patient to have surgery which can be costly. With over 12 million adults diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome only about 650,000 actually have the surgery needed. By using the MicroKnife in office we are providing care to far more patients who need it. I think that with more physician use and marketing more facilities will begin to invest in this type of tool, but it takes time for healthcare to invest in new products.
