The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) accredits a wide range of healthcare organizations in the United States, including hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, nursing homes, behavioral health organizations, and home care providers.
JCAHO was founded in 1951 as a non-profit organization with the mission to improve healthcare quality and safety through accreditation and certification programs.

  • CCA - At least a high school diploma or equivalent. The exam fee for AHIMA members is $199, while non-members pay $299.
  • CHDA - A bachelor's degree in health informatics or a related field, and at least one year of experience in health data analysis. The exam fee for AHIMA members is $299, while non-members pay $399.
  • CDIP - At least an associate's degree and two years of experience in clinical documentation improvement, or a bachelor's degree and one year of experience in clinical documentation improvement. The exam fee for AHIMA members is $299, while non-members pay $399.

Obtaining certification or credentialing from AHIMA is important to hospital organizations and practices because it  demonstrates that their healthcare providers are knowledgeable and skilled in their respective fields. This can lead to increased credibility with patients, improved patient outcomes, and opportunities for career advancement and growth within the organization.

5. What are some slight differences, if any, between the credentials listed? 
The main difference between the listed credential providers is the variations in fees considering that other providers may offer certifications at lower costs.
