The audience was likely some Spanish person. The speaker doesn't say who his audience is but we can infer that it is likely written to a single person. He is writing to a man who wishes for South American success against the Spanish. Therefore we can infer that he can't be writing to the spanish king or a soldier because they would not wish for the South American success. It also takes away the possibility of it being someone from the Americas because they talk about the Americas too generally. Lastly we can infer that it isn't an high class business man because they would want to keep control over the Spanish American economy.

Bolivar felt that Jamaica was oppressed by their Spanish colonizers and were not given any rights. During this time, the Jamaicans were being controlled by the Spanish and used for slave labor to harvest many different cash crops. Simon Bolivar, one of the leaders of Jamaica's independence, felt this was unfair and wrote out his discrepancies with the Spanish in the Jamaica Letter.

Outlining the grievances of South America under spanish rule and providing information on the state of their colony through means of a letter. He compares it to other colonies especially the ongoing situation in the British colonies, and hopeful for the future of South American independence but hugely unsatisfied with the policies and rights of the people at present. He wants the audience feel informed of the current situation in Venezuela. An Enlightenment principle explored in the document is the idea of natural rights. Throughout the letter, Bolivar mentions the government's impositions and laws that do not look out for the public. This also has a connection to John Locke's ideas, since Locke stated that the government should have a responsibility to their population. Additionally, the paper directly references Montesquieu's theory that it is harder for an enslaved nation to gain freedom than it is for a government to enslave a free nation. Voltaire's ideas of the right to freedom of press, speech, and religion are also alluded to throughout the document, demonstrating that the Enlightenment principles had a profound impact on nations around the world.

The following events of the French and Indian War further pushed for the Americans to create the Declaration of Independence. As Britain continued imposing taxes on the 13 American colonies for housing the British soldiers. Paying for their protection, however not having a voice in the Parliament, and as all colonies put emphasis on “not taxation without representation” the Declaration of Independence was created. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence because of the taxes that the British imposed on the American colonies. It wasn’t the tax itself that prompted the secession from the British but the colonies agreeance on “no taxation without representation”. The parliament was making taxes without any representation of the Colonies they were taxing. The American colonies wanted a seat in parliament, however, the British refused. This is the reason for the creation of the Declaration of Independence.

The declaration of independence has 3 basic ideas. (1) god made all men equal and gave them the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. (2) the job of the government is to protect these god given rights.(3) if the government fails to protect or violates these god given rights then citizens have the right to revolt and protest. We know this from the section in the document where it states "All men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." this part is found on the second paragraph of the DOC. for the second point the DOC states "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." in the same paragprah. for the last point the DOC says that That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government" and although they do say abolish not revolt against the government. the reason the author choose to write this is because of their basic and religious beliefs hence the term god given rights.

The author's tone can be described as someone who is very proud of their background but when it's disturbed and wronged, they become mad and want justice. The author reveals this tone when he states all of the natural rights/laws that people can have in the colonies without being under the control of Britain power.
The audience perceives the author as someone who is deeply influenced under the idea of the Enlightenment. He displays that personality by listing all of the freedom the Americans could have without the control of Britain. The author would be preconceived as a person in favor of the Declaration of Independence (an American).
The author's mood could be described as someone who is speaking in a inspiring voice. The reader could be very much convinced by what the author says based on the convincing evidence the author discloses. The audience could get a sense of power and inspiration for the freedom and natural laws/rights of America.
The author's point of view comes from the American side where there are colonies. This point of view is in favor of the Declaration of Independence because they want their freedom and all of their rights back and out of the control under the British power.

What is the speaker’s purpose?:

The Declaration of Independence was written to publicize the issues that the people of the 13 colonies had with England and King George III. This document was also to announce to the world, that there was a new nation born from the British colonies, and to support the upstart Americans as opposed to the established English.

In what ways does he/she convey this message?:

The purpose of the paper is conveyed through a series of grievances against the ‘natural’ rights of the colonists. Prevalent enlightenment ideas are repeated throughout to add validity to their argument.

What is the emotional state of the speaker?:

The speaker feels betrayed by the British as they feel that they have failed to provide what should be promised by a government.

How is the speaker trying to spark a reaction in the audience?:

The reader creates a reaction by breaking away from one of the greatest countries of the time and describing how they have been wronged. Rebellion on this scale was unheard of at the time and inspired many.

Enlightenment philosophies are very prevalent in the Declaration of Independence. This is shown in many ways such as how the declaration describes "Laws of Nature" which can also be interpreted as Natural laws or rights. This is further referenced when the declaration states "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" which is also a reference to natural rights.

the authors were the National Assembly of France. You can assume that they were radical based on how the rest of the document was phrased. The National Assembly of France was a group of people who collectively wrote the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen.

The purpose of the Declaration of rights of man is to establish a liberal democratic frame work after the king was killed it was to establish a republic on top of this. This is conveyed through there adoption of lockeist and voltieres principals. They are tired of autocratic rule in France. they use the promise of rights to try to get the people on there side. They do all of this through there reforms like freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

It was of course written during the French Revolution, and was also written in order to define the rights of each and every citizen of France. It was immediately written after the Third estate walked out of and left the Estates General, and the French peasantry demanded equal rights and taxation of the higher estates.

The subject of the piece is the rights all men should possess in the French government and the privileges they are entitled to for the greater good of society. I know this because the piece clearly states that they deserve all these different naturally given (at least they are supposed to be naturally given) abilities from the French government, and explicitly states the government should only be enforcing laws that benefit society and the people. The subject has been selected and presented in a way where it sounds as if the Third Estate really does mean business, meaning they truly are going to fight for this cause despite the immense power of the above two estates. It also is presented in a way that shows formality and officiality.

The intended audience was the french people who were angered by the Monarchy, and the clergy. The document does not explicity state a specific audience within the text, but I assume that the target audience was the common people. I assume that the French people were angered by the general assembly (Monarchy and celergy) who would do as they please, and imposed harsh policies on the peasants.

The author in charge of writing the text was Simon Bolivar. As to the assumptions of his person, I chance that he is of the Americas under the Rule of Spain due to his berating of Spain's tyranny against the public relations of the Americas. Other assumptions I can pull from the text are that he is driven and that he is educated although to what extent I am not sure.

The tone is idealistic and committed to the principles of equality and liberty. People who supported the French Revolution saw the Declaration as a good and fair statement. People who didn't support the French revolution saw it with skepticism and disagreement. The mood is hopeful, and it expresses a desire for positive change and challenging existing power structures. The point of view is from y enlightenment ideas that everyone has natural rights and supporting a government that comes from the people.

The Declaration of Independence was written by the leadership of the American colonies. The leaders indented to form a government where each branch didn’t have too much control or authority against the others. The assumptions that can be made about the speakers is that they have intensions of bettering the public good. Within the Declaration equal rights and decent respect are given to all citizens.

The intended audience was the rest of the world to tell them why they could no longer be colonists of Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson doesn't clearly state who the audience is but he talks about them in unity as a whole. The assumption that we can gather from the audience is that the Declaration of Independence is addressed, they were content with the principles that were presented in the introduction of the Declaration of Independence.
