I attended Mazao School in Nairobi, Kenya. It was originally called Aloe Vera. The school motto is "Give the world the best." It is located on the northern side of Nairobi at a place called Kiambu County. The grade level was from kindergarten to eighth grade and ages 3 to 14 or 15. We used to pay 22600 shillings a month for tuition because it was a private school.

The school year runs from January to October. We only get a 3 to 4 week vacation in the whole year.

Classes started at 8am and ended at 4pm. The classes were usually 45 minutes long and we were taught six subjects a day (math, English, social studies, C.R.E, Kiswahili and science) You never switched classrooms.

We dress in uniforms (see my photo below - I am on the right). My class only had four girls including myself. The school was mixed, boys and girls. We did have a dress code the girls had to dress in a skirt, a maroon sweater, white socks and a bow tie. The boys had to dress in grey shorts, a maroon sweater grey, white socks, a T-shirt and a tie.

It is not a big school. I never disliked the school. It is a major difference between Grissom and my school in Kenya because Grissom is bigger and it also has many students.

In Dakar, Senegal, I attended a school called La Maison De La Sagesse. The school entrance was a big green double-sided door. The school is structured into two buildings. We have massive school buses waiting outside for the children. The middle school and the high school were located in different places.

The school year is about 9 months and we get 3 months of vacation. We have a couple of little breaks from time to time, like every month we get a break of 3 days. We also have 2 Islamic breaks.

Classes start at 8:00 am and last until 5:00 pm. We used to have two different classes. The first one was from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and the second from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Students had to wear uniforms, it was a strict rule that all students had to follow. The uniforms would cover your whole body. It would cover all of your arms and the skirt to cover your knees. We also had to wear a hijab.

With all those strict rules to follow our school has been number one in the district for seven years now.

The National Dish Of Senegal

Thieboudienne is the national dish of Senegal. It has been for over a century. It is originally from ST.Louis, Senegal. Passed on by oral tradition it is said that the dish was created by a woman named Penda Mbaye in the 19 century.

The main ingredients are rice with tomato sauce, fish, and vegetables. The cooking steps are easy but it does need surveillance at all times. First, you prepare the marinade for the fish and add the fish to it. Next you make the tomato sauce and start cooking the rice. Then, you remove the fish from the marinade and add vegetables before placing it all in a fourneau (smoker). Pour the tomato sauce into the rice and wait for the fish and vegetables to finish smoking.

Theiboudienne is a savory dish, normally served on a big plate. Place the rice at the bottom, the fish in the middle, and the vegetables surrounding it. It is also a salty/sweet dish because of the variety of ingredients.

In my opinion, Thieboudjene is one of the best dishes on earth. Did you know that Senegal also has its own drink? It is called bissap. It is a sweet organic drink made of an herb called roselle.

https://www.internationalcuisine.com/thieboudienne/

The national dish of Kenya is nyama choma. Before Kenya gained independance the 42 tribes used to hunt for a living and raise livestock. Therefore, beef was and still is very popular. This is how nyama choma became the national dish of Kenya.

In English nyama choma can be called roasted beef. Nyama choma can be cooked in different ways. For example, you can fry it, cook it, or even boil it. But in Kenya it is mosty roasted over a grill or a camp fire. It is cooked for about 45 to 50 minutes, this gives it time to produce all the moisture and flavoring of the meat.

After it is done, it comes out dark and crunchy on the outside but juicy and hot on the inside. You can always make the outside as dark as you want but the inside will always stay juicy on the inside. It is mostly served with a side of kachumbari (chopped cilantro, tomatoes, peppers, and onions mixed together), ugali (a cassava porridge) or chips. It is tradition that the chef cuts it infront of you.

Nyama choma is one of my favorite dishes. I like it because the beef is cooked until it is extremely tender. They made the right choice by making it the main dish of Kenya. I usually eat nyama choma with a side of kachumbari and chips.

https://foodandmeal.com/african/how-to-make-kenya-nyama-choma-easy-recipe

The national dish of Puerto Rico is arroz con grandules. It is the national dish because it is made with pigeon peas. Pigeon peas are a plant that is harvested in Puerto Rico. This dish has been made in Puerto Rico since the 18th century.

The main ingredients are rice and pigeon peas. First, you cook the rice. Then, you make sofrito. Sofrito is made with green peppers, onions, garlic, and cilantro.Next, add the sofrito to the rice. It takes about 20 minutes to cook.

Arroz con grandules is an aromatic dish. It is juicy and delicious. The beautiful yellow rice and green peas are usually served on a plate.

In my opinion, rice with pigeon peas (and cake) is the best food. It is my favorite. It is mostly eaten at Christmas or on other special ocassions. Puerto rico also has a national drink called the pina colada.
Places to Visit in Kenya

Kenya is one of the best places to visit in Eastern Africa. There are so many things to do while you are there, such as learning about the history of Kenya and how it was found or formed. You can also educate yourself about the forty-two tribes and their cultures. If you ever get the chance to visit Kenya, here are three places you should visit.

The first place to visit is Ngong Hills. This is an open land owned by no one. There are many hills that form valleys. This place is both for adults and kids but both the parent and child should be very careful because the hill is formed with loose sand. The best time to visit is when it is warm outside. The hills are high up so it gets breezy and a little bit cold. Also the best time to go is when it is still light out. Since this is an open park, you can drive through or drive by. It is such a calming place and very beautiful.

The second place to visit is Elephant and Rhino Nursery. It is a very heartwarming place when the rescuers start telling you about how the animals were found or what happened to them. The calves and their parents are treated well and attended to when they need help, are hungry, or just need attention. Adults and kids are allowed in the nursery, but the parent has to watch over their children so they do not go over the fence. The best time to visit is when it is warm. You have to pay 500 shillings. It is a pleasant place and also comfortable. Most people like to go there just to relax and perhaps feed the animals.

Finally, the last place you should visit when you go to Kenya is Nairobi National Park. This is a huge park where wild animals are free to walk around and they can also live free in their environment. Adults and children are all allowed inside but you have to be extremely careful because it is a wildlife park. You should visit when it is cool outside (but not raining) because the animals will go into hiding when it is too warm. The park is a very interesting place because you will get to learn about the animals’ habitat and nature.

Please watch the video I created by clicking below.

Puerto Rico is an island well known for its gorgeous beaches. It is a small island but with many adventures and exceptional places to visit. These are my three favorite places.

The first place is Puerto Mosquitos. It is a bioluminescent mosquito bay. Is a excellent beach. All people can go. It is much better to go during the night because you can see delights in the water. You need to pay $58.00 for an adult because you ride on a boat. You can't swim in the water. And it is so cool because if you touch the water they make a color.

The second place is El Yunque, which is a national forest. It is good to go there in the afternoon because it is the best time of the day to be there. You have to pay $10.00 for children and $20.00 for adults. You are in nature all the time so you see flowers, animals, and a little lake. The lake is green because some plants can only survive if they are in the water.

The third and final place is Cueva Ventana. It is a large cave located in a limestone mountain in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. It is a gorgeous and historical place. It is better to go in the afternoon or morning. You need to pay $19.00 for an adult and $10.00 for children, but kids under five years old cannot go into the cave. You have to go with a guide. And, you need to use a flashlight because it is dark and you will not see all the animals.

Please watch the video I created by clicking below.

Senegal is a beautiful country in West Africa. From beaches, deserts, water parks to many other attractions, the possibilities are endless. Here are some of the best places to visit.

The first place I advise you to visit is the Pink Lake or Lake Retba. It is a lake where most salt in Senegal is extracted from and when the sun shines on it, it becomes pink. Everyone is allowed to visit this lake and it costs 5 US dollars to get a tour on a dirt bike and ride on a canoe. It is best to go in the summer, but you can visit at any time.

Next, you should visit The House Of Slaves on Goree Island. It is treasured and very important in Senegalese culture. It is where slaves were captured and where slave trade was most prevalent at the time. There are no age restrictions. The best time to visit is in the fall because it is not too hot or cold. A tour costs about 10 US dollars, and you can get it in multiple languages.

Lastly, you should definitely visit the African Renaissance Statue, located in Dakar. It is the tallest statue in Africa, about 181 feet tall. After climbing about 198 stairs, be prepared to see the most magnificent view. When you reach the top of the statue you can see f the whole city of Dakar.

Please watch the video I created by clicking below.
