Each ELL student will be given a choice between one of the five stories I am using to assess our English speakers, or one of five traditional Spanish children’s stories. If an ELL student chooses an story in English, I will allow them a bit more time on their answers. If they choose a story in Spanish, the guidelines will be the same as they are for the English speakers.

Our class activity will consist of two groups of 8 students per group. I will read a story of my choosing, something we are well familiar with. After reading the story, one of the groups will come up with 4 questions. The other group will attempt to answer those questions. We will then switch roles and the questioners will become the questioned.

Our assessments both formal and those given as we teach and observe the students, will ultimately determine the effectiveness of our planned instruction. The modeling we have chosen, the guidance we give our students will all have been decided during our planning stage. If students are able to demonstrate that they have understood, and have achieved a level of mastery that meet the standards then our planning has been a success. However, it is more likely than not that there will be some students who will need to go over parts of our instruction. Some students may need to review the entire lesson again. At this point we will need to understand where our instruction has not satisfied our objectives. We then should re-examine all of our strategies in order to reevaluate the modeling we chose to use, guidance we gave, the amount of time we allotted to the various sections or our plan. How much time we gave our students to complete tasks. Equally as important as all of these factors is also the issue of UDL, and how we can best serve each individual student.
