So far, what has been stated as a 'no-no' would be obtaining part-time jobs - but what about internships?

In the scenario, I would like to apply for Internships that are not compulsory according to my academic year - where in addition, the internships are virtual (remote). Said internships would align with my goals. Would I still have to go with the normal procedure?

How about being a freelancer? Macam take a job as freelance graphic design or freelance wedding photography?
